Questions and Answers
Who makes AirQuest?
AirQuest is made by the largest manufacturer of HVAC equipment in North America. Over 100 years old, the company is credited with inventing air conditioning and is a household name. We like AirQuest because we see higher quality for the same price other brands charge for lesser products. For example, every condenser has Copeland scroll compressor - the best US-made unit available. They use thicker gauge materials and more cabinet insulation for a more solid, quieter appliance. AirQuest heat exchangers use aluminized steel and have 20 year or lifetime warranties. The engineering, performance, quality and warranty surpasses the competition, all at a lower price with free shipping direct to you.
What happens if this breaks down?
HVACDirect.com gives you lifetime tech support. Many common problems can be solved with a phone call to us. HVACDirect.com is an authorized dealer of AirQuest, therefore equipment we sell carries the full manufacturer's warranty. The warranty applies to all parts. You have to register the products online in order to extend the warranty to the full 10 years, otherwise the term is 5 years. If a part fails under warranty, you will not pay anything for the replacement part. Should a part fail under warranty, the first step is to have a professional confirm what part needs to be replaced. Then, contact us at email@example.com or by calling and asking for customer service.
What happens if it arrives damaged?
If you are present during drop-off and you see obvious signs of damage or rough handling in transit - please ask the driver to wait while you inspect the equipment. If it is damaged badly enough that you believe it can not function, you have the right to refuse the damaged portion of the shipment. If you discover the damage after the driver has left, take photos of the damage and send them to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please refer to your order number in the email. This starts the process and one of our representatives will be in touch with you promptly.
How can I find an installer?
It’s easier than you think – the key is to find an independent contractor or small company as opposed to a larger HVAC service. A one or two person outfit will do the work more quickly and cheaply than a bigger company, too. Yelp.com, Thumbtack.com, and Porch.com are websites are designed to help you connect with a professional in your area. You could also place a call to the last professional who did work on your home and see if they have any recommendations.
What's the warranty?
AirQuest/ACiQ’s 10 year Warranty (online registration required) is one of the top warranties available today. Many of the higher-SEER units have even higher warranties and some of the higher efficient furnaces have longer heat exchanger warranties.
I'm looking to replace my Carrier unit and this AQ unit seems to have about the same specs - are they the same product?
AirQuest is made by the same company as Carrier, ICP, as well as brands like Bryant, TempStar and ArcoAire. Many of the internal components can be cross referenced for shared parts. So, yes, apart from the name on the badge – very similar if not identical.
Use this condenser with carrier coil
Yes, that will work however please make sure that you have the correct size coil. If you have aren't sure if your coil is the appropriate size, please call us and we can help you determine the size of your coil.
do they come charged?
The unit comes precharged from the factory for up to 15' of line set however you need a licensed contractor to connect the line sets, vacuum the system, and release the refrigerant.
Is unit pre charged 410A
Yes, it's charged for up to 15ft of copper piping.
I bought the 30 amp disconnect, but the max amp size is 50 amps. Will that be big enough?
To put it simply, yes. A 30 Amp fuse disconnect will be sufficient. The below table outlines the run load amps for the compressor and the fan motor. Combined, it will be 20.4 Amps. (If table does not show, you can find it in the R4H448GKC's specifications sheet on page 3 under "Electrical Data", https://hvacdirect.com/media/hvac/pdf/R4H4-specifications.pdf) You also do not need to worry about the starting current overloading fuses. Fuses used in HVAC applications are known as "time-delay" fuses. On start-up, the equipment will draw approximately 5 times the amperage it has when running. This locked rotor amperage lasts for just a fraction of a second. These time delay fuses are designed to allow a temporary current surge without going above the fuse's current rating, giving the 30 Amp disconnect the ability to operate safely with R4H448GKC's max breaker size of 50 Amps. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
