Two décor options for the IgniteXL Dimplex electric fireplace add even more versatility to a linear electric fireplace insert that already is an eye-catcher. Available materials that can be ordered as accessories for the enclosure include:

Edge-to-edge glass provides a panoramic view of the imitation flames from anywhere in the room. Glowing media in a variety of colors give the IgniteXL a contemporary look. You can choose between four different colors or let the fireplace cycle through all of them.

Choose from 120-volt or 240-volt operation. At 120 volts, the heating capacity is 5,118 BTUs, and at 240 volts, the capacity is 8,530 BTUs, which can cover approximately 1000 square feet. Rooms with vaulted ceilings may have reduced coverage. The performance is the product of Dimplex’s patented Comfort$aver® technology, which uses 11 percent less energy than previous models.

The IgniteXL can be installed in a fireplace, but since few homes have a fireplace that is over six feet wide, accessory kits for a custom enclosure are offered. While it appears to be much deeper. the IgniteXL is only five inches deep, making installation into standard walls with 2 x 4 studs much easier.

The unit is direct-wired and does not plug in to a receptacle. Dimplex has simplified the electrical connection procedure, but it is still recommended for licensed electricians only. Operation is controlled by a control panel that tucks out of sight when not in use.

As long as the installation is performed according to the manual, this fireplace is safe for the whole family. Even the glass is cool to the touch.
