OVERVIEW

The Coolair 48" Upblast Axial Roof Exhaust Fan is a powerful, belt-driven ventilation solution engineered for demanding commercial and industrial environments. Designed for vertical discharge, this fan ensures that air velocity effectively seals the opening against rain and snow during operation. When not in use, its counterbalanced fiberglass dampers close quietly by gravity, creating a weather-resistant barrier while allowing natural light to filter through like a skylight.

Built with a low-profile JBH design, this exhaust fan offers proven reliability, lower initial cost, and efficient performance. Its recessed motor and drive components within the roof curb make it a practical and space-saving choice for facilities that require dependable air movement and superior durability.

Key Features:

  • 48-inch axial fan design – Provides high-performance upblast ventilation to effectively remove heat, fumes, and stale air.
  • Belt drive system – Ensures quiet, efficient, and durable operation while reducing maintenance needs.
  • 477 RPM, 2 HP, 3 Phase motor – Delivers strong and dependable airflow suitable for heavy-duty commercial applications.
  • Heavy-Gauge Steel Construction – Rugged and durable, built for long-lasting rooftop use.
  • Corrosion-Resistant Finish – Protects against rust and extends service life in harsh conditions.
  • Precision-Balanced Aluminum Blades – Engineered for maximum airflow with minimal vibration.
  • Upblast Exhaust Design – Safely directs contaminated air away from the roof and building interior.

Durable Materials & Construction

The American CoolAir Upblast Axial Roof Exhaust Fan is built from heavy-gauge steel with a corrosion-resistant finish, ensuring it can withstand exposure to harsh weather conditions. Its precision-balanced axial blades are made from high-strength aluminum, engineered to maximize airflow while minimizing vibration. A heavy-duty steel motor frame, weatherproof windband, and protective curb cap add to the system’s durability and safety. Unlike the other direct drive fans, the belt drive configuration offers flexibility in speed control and efficiency, making it well-suited for demanding applications where ventilation must be both powerful and quiet. Built with American CoolAir’s decades of engineering expertise, this fan delivers reliable performance, durability, and long service life even under heavy-duty use.

Customer Questions
How many propeller blades does the fan use, and how are they attached?
The fans use six die-formed steel propeller blades, securely attached at three points on the hub.
How energy efficient are these units?
These fans use less power while moving a lot of air. You can adjust the speed to fit your needs, which saves energy, and the design helps the fan last longer with less wear.
Are there controllers or accessories available for controlling speed or operation?
Yes, these fans can be equipped with a variable pitch motor pulley that lets you adjust the fan speed to match your needs. You can also choose from helpful accessories like safety switches, roof curbs, latches, and protective coatings depending on your installation.
What does the “low profile” design mean, and why might it matter?
This design allows the motor and drive parts to be set into the roof curb, so the unit doesn’t stick up as much above the roof. That helps reduce wind exposure, looks cleaner, avoids height issues, and makes it easier to install in areas with limited clearance. If you’d like help finding the best option for your space, our team is here to assist you.
Are these fans suitable for all weather conditions?
Yes, these fans are built to handle all kinds of weather. The steel body with an epoxy finish helps protect against rust, but in very damp or corrosive areas, we recommend adding extra coatings or accessories. Proper sealing during installation also keeps out rain and wind.
