Air circulation in industrial and commercial settings is more than just a comfort issue. It’s also a safety and productivity issue, as exhaust fans are typically employed to break up layers of stale air and clear out accumulated fumes. In a commercial environment, dependable climate control that doesn’t require a lot of maintenance is vital. This is where Hartzell products shine, providing years of service without performance issues.
Axial Fans
Axial fans move air in the same direction as the motor’s armature, using one of two methods to accomplish the task: (1) direct drive, where the fan blades are attached to the main shaft of the motor and therefore turns exactly as it does; and (2) belt drive, where the motor is offset, and the blades are turned by a belt. It’s easier to adjust the rotation speed with a belt drive fan, but axial fans can achieve greater RPMs.
Our line of axial fans run in size from 12 inches to 42 inches in diameter and move air at the rate of 500 CFMs (Cubic Feet per Minute) to over 40,000 CFMs.
We also carry fiberglass corrosion resistant fans for use in environments with toxic fumes or high-moisture exhaust.
Centrifugal Fans
Centrifugal fans create a whirlwind with an outer ring of backwards-facing fan blades that force air into the center of the motor compartment. This makes them ideal for use in ducted air exhaust systems where a strong airflow is necessary.
These units range in size from 12 inches to 27 inches (opening) and from 800 CFMs to over 20,000 CFMs for larger units. Construction is of hardened carbon steel, ensuring that these fans will likely be on the job for decades.
As with the axial fans, we have fiberglass models that resist corrosion and rust.
Roof Ventilators
Roof ventilation fans draw stale air directly through the roof and replace it with fresh air from outside. This is particularly helpful in the winter, when furnace heat accumulates near the ceiling and migrates throughout the building in a slowly turning spiral. The ventilator gets rid of the warm, stale air, but keeps the heat, transferring it to the incoming fresh air.
