Questions and Answers

Customer Questions
Do I need a shut off switch or is that part of the surge protector, I need a shut off switch to work on unit?
This surge protector does not have a shut off switch so you will need to have a shut off switch for the unit before doing any work on it. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
Is it recommended to put a surge protector on both the outside and inside units for a mini spit system?
We recommend a surge protector for the outdoor component only. The indoor unit gets all the protection it needs from the dedicated breaker in your panel. The outdoor unit is exposed to more unpredictable circumstances such as wildlife, lightning, rain and snow. The surge protector can save you from a more expensive repair to the outdoor unit when the unexpected occurs.
Do I need a disconnect panel to install this surge protector on a Fujitsu mini split system?
Thank you for your question. Most building codes require a disconnect box for the outdoor unit. For this reason, we do not recommend bypassing the disconnect box. The surge protector is typically housed in the breaker panel or next to the breaker panel rather than being housed outside with the outdoor condenser. This allows it to be protected from the elements. For more assistance, please give us a call.
