Building a new house in Auburn, CA. Single floor, 1,960 sf.

We do not recommend installing a packaged heat pump within the crawl space of a house regardless of how well ventilated it is. Packaged units are typically installed immediately outside or on the roof of a building. While the GPH1648H41 has a low sound output, this output is relative to the output of a typical condenser or packaged unit. This unit has a sound level of 80 decibels, which is roughly the equivalent of a busy downtown street. Additionally, the packaged unit will likely shake your home while it is in use if installed in a crawl space. For these reasons, we strongly do not recommend installing it there. Please check the installation manual located in the product's specifications for more details on how to set up the unit.

You do not need a separate condenser for AC. Heat pumps provide both heat and cool air, eliminating the need for a standard AC condenser.
