Can a MERV 12 filter be used with this unit without hampering airflow or causing problems?

Take caution with filters higher than MERV 8. MERV 11 and higher filters resist a larger amount of airflow than the lower-rated filters and static pressure drops can potentially be very high. Before installing a MERV 12 filter, we recommend measuring your system's static pressure and referencing the static pressure chart present in the ARUF's specification sheet (found in the Resources section). It will give you an idea of how much airflow the air handler is moving at this pressure.
