Difference between a 2 and 2.5 ton?

"Tonnage" describes the cooling output of a unit measured in British Thermal Units (BTUs). A 2.5 ton unit has approximately 6,000 more cooling BTUs than a 2 ton unit and is usually meant for a slightly larger house than what a 2 ton unit can effectively cool.
