Does this require shielded wire to be ran? Does it need to be stranded?

No. The TL04-1 does not require shielded or stranded wire. The installation manual specifies that the wiring should meet CL2 requirements and that the thermostat terminals accept 16–24 AWG conductors, but it does not require shielded or stranded cable. Standard HVAC thermostat wire is appropriate for most installations, provided it meets local electrical codes and the system manufacturer's requirements.
