Today's Hours 10am - 6pm estHi,Im looking for a shutter fan like this that I can use in my shop that has 2x6 studded walls on 16”centers.Will this fit between the wall studs at approx 14 3/4” width?? Will I have to remove one stud and widen the opening?? Your thoughts are appreciated. George
The S12-E1 has an overall rough opening that is larger than the space between standard 2x6 studs on 16" centers. A typical stud bay provides approximately 14½ inches of clear space, so this fan will not fit between the studs without modification. To install this unit in a standard framed wall, you would typically need to cut and reframe the opening, which generally involves removing one stud and adding the appropriate header and framing to maintain the wall's structural integrity. If you'd prefer to avoid modifying the framing, we'd be happy to recommend a shutter exhaust fan designed to fit within a standard 16" on-center stud bay.
