How do we determine which size of supplemental heat element kit to order?

Electric heat kits are sized similarly to how you would handle any other HVAC product, but with the added step of converting kilowatts per hour to BTUs per hour. A single kW is equal to 3412.142 BTUs/hr. Scroll down to the Quick Sizing Calculator, plug in your house's square footage and your zip code, and the results will give you an estimate on how many heating BTUs you'll need. For electric heat kits, it isn't common for someone to need a heat kit higher than 10kW unless the space they're heating is very large.
