2. Access the Coils - Remove any access panels or grilles to reach the evaporator and condenser coils.​
3. Remove Loose Debris - Use a soft-bristle brush or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to gently remove dust and debris from the coils.
​4. Apply Coil Cleaner - Spray a non-acidic coil cleaner onto the coils, following the manufacturer's instructions for application and dwell time.
​5. Gently Scrub the Coils - After allowing the cleaner to sit, gently scrub the coils with a soft-bristle brush to remove stubborn dirt and grime. ​
6. Rinse Thoroughly - Rinse the coils with water, starting from the top and working your way down, to remove all cleaning solution and debris. ​
7. Inspect and Dry - Inspect the coils to ensure they are clean and free from debris. Allow them to air dry completely before reassembling the unit. ​
8. Reassemble and Test - Once the coils are dry, reassemble any components that were removed, restore power to the system, and test its operation to ensure proper functionality.
Avoid High-Pressure Water: Do not use water pressure exceeding 140 psi, and maintain a distance of at least 3 inches from the coils to prevent damage. ​
Do Not Use Harsh Chemicals: Avoid using acidic or caustic cleaners not approved for HVAC systems, as they can damage the coils and void warranties.
​Protect Electrical Components: Ensure that no water or cleaning solution comes into contact with electrical parts to prevent short circuits or corrosion.
