Every home and business has unique requirements and preferences for heating and cooling solutions. Factors such as square footage, technical specifications, installation process, climate conditions, and more influence your decision-making process. We understand that navigating through these details can be overwhelming for customers, which is why we introduced our ACiQ Build-Your-Own Furnace & AC System. Simply answer a few straightforward questions about your needs, and watch as the price updates automatically. With just one click, you can make your purchase. Following that, our expert sales team will match your order with the most suitable, high-quality system from our ready-to-ship inventory.
The questions to answer are the same standard questions you may be asked by a contractor. Please note that not every combination may be available. All ACiQ furnaces are multi-positional, meaning that they can be installed in upflow, downflow, and horizontal orientations, so furnace airflow direction does not need to be specified. If there are any issues with the selections you have provided, we will reach out to you to ensure that the system you receive is suitable for your home. For more information on each question, please see below:
AFUE stands for "Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency", which basically means that its a measure of how well your furnace will produce heat. If a furnace is rated for 40,000 BTUs and has an efficiency of 80%, then that means 80% of the fuel used produces 32,000 BTUs of heat (40,000 X 80% AFUE) per hour and the remaining 20% is lost through your venting as combustion byproducts.
Make sure you know what type of furnace your house is equipped for. An 80% Furnace will use a metal flue for venting gases out of your house, while a 90% or Higher Furnace will use plastic or PVC vents instead.
BTUs (British Thermal Units) measure how much heat a furnace can produce. It is important that you choose the correct furnace size so your whole house can be efficiently and comfortably warmed. BTUs scale upward with house size, but please note that other factors may affect what size furnace you need.
Modern furnaces have a standardized cabinet width of either 14", 17.5", 21", and 24.5". Simply measure the width of the face of your current furnace to determine what width you need.
An air conditioner's tonnage is a measure of how much cool air it can produce. Similarly to furnace BTUs, an air conditioner's tonnage scales upward with house sizes. Please notes that other factors may affect the ideal tonnage your house needs.
These options are not mandatory for any specific type of home. They are provided for those that want greater efficiency and more precise control over their heating and cooling system.
