HVAC Shopping Made Easier

Our website has a massive selection of Furnace & AC systems for you to choose from. That's because every home and business have different needs and preferences when it comes to heating and cooling. All these specifics can be overwhelming to a customer, and that is where our Build-Your-Own Furnace & AC System comes into play! Just answer a few simple questions about your needs. As you do, you will see the price update automatically and you can buy it with one click. After that, our expert sales team will match your order with the most suitable, high-quality system from our ready-to-ship inventory.

What We Need From You

The questions to answer are the same standard questions you may be asked by a contractor. Please note that not every combination may be available. All systems utilize R32 refrigerant. The included condenser will be the lowest SEER2-rated model that complies with state regulations. If there are any issues with the selections you have provided, we will reach out to you to ensure that the system you receive is suitable for your home. For more information on each question, please see below:

Furnace AFUE/Efficiency

AFUE stands for "Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency", which basically means that its a measure of how well your furnace will produce heat. If a furnace is rated for 40,000 BTUs and has an efficiency of 80%, then that means 80% of the fuel used produces 32,000 BTUs of heat (40,000 X 80% AFUE) per hour and the remaining 20% is lost through your venting as combustion byproducts.

Make sure you know what type of furnace your house is equipped for. An 80% Furnace will use a metal flue for venting gases out of your house, while a 90% or Higher Furnace will use plastic or PVC vents instead.

Furnace BTUs

BTUs (British Thermal Units) measure how much heat a furnace can produce. It is important that you choose the correct furnace size so your whole house can be efficiently and comfortably warmed. BTUs scale upward with house size, but please note that other factors may affect what size furnace you need.

  • 40,000 BTUs - Ideal for small houses
  • 60,000 BTUs - Ideal for small to medium size houses
  • 80,000 BTUs - Ideal for medium houses
  • 100,000 BTUs - Ideal for medium to large size houses
  • 120,000 BTUs - Ideal for large houses

Furnace Cabinet Width

Modern furnaces have a standardized cabinet width of either 14", 17.5", 21", and 24.5". Simply measure the width of the face of your current furnace to determine what width you need. Note: 14" wide furnaces are uncommon for most furnace & AC system configurations. If your setup requires a 14" wide furnace, please give us a call and our team will help you out.

Furnace Airflow Direction

There are 3 orientations for furnaces - Upflow, Horizontal, or Downflow. Furnaces found in basements or other lower levels of a house are typically Upflow furnaces. If they are in the upper levels of a house or in a closet, it is a Downflow furnace. If the furnace is lying on its side in the attic or some other location in a house, that furnace is installed for a Horizontal setup.

Condenser Tonnage

An air conditioner's tonnage is a measure of how much cool air it can produce. Similarly to furnace BTUs, an air conditioner's tonnage scales upward with house sizes. Please notes that other factors may affect the ideal tonnage your house needs.

  • 1.5 and 2 Ton - Ideal for small houses
  • 2.5 Ton - Ideal for small to medium size houses
  • 3 and 3.5 Ton - Ideal for medium houses
  • 4 Ton - Ideal for medium to large size houses
  • 5 Ton - Ideal for large houses

Optional Upgrades

These options are not mandatory for any specific type of home. They are provided for those that want greater efficiency and more precise control over their heating and cooling system.

  • Two Stage Furnace - A two stage furnace comes with a second "middle" stage between being simply off and fully on. This second stage is perfect for those that don't want their furnace on at full blast when they do not need as much heat.
