- 42” exhaust fan works greatI bought the 42” Canarm exhaust fan for my 50 x 60 x 16’ shop. This ventilates the shop perfectly. The fan removes fumes, cools it down and provides a good breeze. You can hold a normal conversation while it’s on. It’s a little more noticeable than a 50” barrel fan but moves 4 times more air. I usually open one 14’ garage door on the opposite end of the shop 18” to 24” and there’s a breeze 12 to 15 mph coming in, enough to blow dust across the floor. For winter when it’s rarely used, I made a housing on the interior of the shop with an insulated insert to keep the cold air out. Wind blown rain will slightly get through the louvers of the fan if it is off so I drilled a couple of holes in the lowest spots for it to drain. Overall it’s a great fan and I would buy another.
