WHY DO I NEED A LINER?

When installing a wood insert into a zero-clearance fireplace, it is required to install a UL listed liner. The chimney pipe on a zero-clearance fireplace is only rated to 1700 degrees. The chimney for a high efficient wood insert needs to be rated to 2100 degrees. To maintain UL listing and keep the fireplace to code, the proper liner must be installed.
