Product Features
  • Equipped with a built-in speed controller
  • Efficiently operate at airstream temperatures up to 122 °F
  • Ideal for High Suction, High Airflow applications
  • Constructed from UL certified, UV protected polycarbonate material

OVERVIEW

Built for demanding radon mitigation systems, the RN4EC-3 features a UV-resistant, vibration-welded, airtight polycarbonate housing that resists weather, corrosion, and leakage. Equipped with an efficient EC (electronically commutated) motor and an integrated speed control potentiometer, it allows precise dialing of suction for optimal performance. This fan can generate strong vacuum pressure (up to 4.75" of suction at low airflow) while also delivering high airflow under mild suction—making it versatile for slab and sub-slab systems. It includes LDVI vibration isolator couplings for quiet installation and is UL listed for outdoor use. With its combination of power, control, and durability, the RN4EC-3 is an ideal choice for radon systems requiring both flexibility and long-lasting reliability.

Key Features

  • UV-resistant reinforced polymeric housing: Designed to withstand sun exposure and corrosion for long-lasting outdoor durability.
  • Vibration-welded, leakproof seams: Ensures an airtight structure that prevents air loss and maintains optimal performance.
  • Totally enclosed motor: Features sealed bearings and built-in thermal overload protection for reliable, maintenance-free operation. (Enclosure class, motor IP44)
  • UL approved for wet locations: Safe for outdoor or exposed installations where moisture protection is required.
  • Optional EC motor versions: Available with integrated speed control for precise airflow adjustment and energy-efficient performance.
  • Double-insulated, non-conductive design: Enhances safety and minimizes grounding requirements in most setups.

Durable Construction & Smart Design

Fantech’s Rn Series radon fans are specifically designed for Active Soil Depressurization (ASD) in radon mitigation systems. The housing is made from UV-resistant reinforced polymer, molded and vibration-welded to ensure airtight performance and prevent any leakage. This non-conductive, reinforced structure also meets “double-insulated” safety standards, which can eliminate the need for grounding in many installations. The Rn fans are UL-certified for outdoor use and approved for wet environments, allowing flexible installation options. Inside, the motor features a fully enclosed design with sealed bearings and automatic thermal overload protection to prevent overheating. These features include airtight construction, UV protection, sealed motors, and advanced electronics, allowing the Rn Series to operate reliably outdoors, resist moisture, and deliver continuous performance in demanding radon mitigation applications.

Suitable Applications for Fantech Rn Inline Radon fans

  • Residential basements and slabs: Reduces radon levels and improves air quality in homes with active mitigation systems.
  • Multi-family buildings: Ideal for apartments or condos with soil depressurization systems to maintain safe air.
  • Schools and daycare centers: Ensures healthy indoor air in facilities with crawlspaces or slab foundations.
  • Commercial buildings: Provides effective radon control in structures with ground-level subfloors or crawlspaces.
  • Building retrofits: Helps older properties meet radon safety standards through improved ventilation.
  • Medical facilities: Maintains safe air in clinics or hospitals built on slab foundations.
  • New construction: Integrates easily with Active Soil Depressurization (ASD) systems for lasting protection.

Customer Questions
What is a Radon fan, and what does it do?
A radon fan helps remove harmful radon gas from under your home by pulling it through pipes and safely venting it outside. This keeps your indoor air safer to breathe.
Does this fan include a place to connect electrical wiring?
Yes. Each Rn fan has a built-in, weatherproof wiring box that makes electrical connections simple and keeps them protected from moisture.
Will the fan cause vibration or noise inside my home?
Hardly at all. The fan is well-balanced, and when you use flexible duct couplings, most vibration and sound are absorbed before they reach the structure.
Should I use flexible couplings or vibration isolators when installing the fan?
Yes, that’s recommended. These small connectors help reduce noise, vibration, and pressure on the pipes, keeping your setup quiet and stable.
Can the fan leak radon gas?
No. The fan housing is tightly sealed to make sure all the air is directed safely through the exhaust pipe without any leaks.
