- Incredible UpgradeOur original heat pump unit came with a non-wifi thermostat, and it's in the basement. Every time we wanted to check on it we would have to wander downstairs. Once we changed it out for this one, the controlling of the unit became a breeze. It works perfectly and is easy to manage. The only word of caution: Manufacturer's instructions, especially the graphics, leave a lot to desire. It is not clear, but the cabling has to be changed (it comes with the new thermostat) and it has to be plugged into a different receptacle on the air handler's electronic board. After a brief call with HVAC Direct's Tech Support it was completely straight forward. I definitely recommend this product, it is one heck of an upgrade.
