- Excellent replacement for manufactured homesMoved into my friends airbnb and the a/c started going out. After a ton of research I found this unit. Since this is a manufactured home on pier and beam it was super easy to rip out the old system and replace the lines. The biggest problem - if you can call it that - was getting the lines curved to attach to the fittings on the air handler. We installed it with my ecobee thermostat configured for 2 stage cool and 2 stage heat. I must say.. very impressed. Both units have temp sensors to match the speed according to the temps inside and outside. The variable speed compressor ramps to meet demand. Most of the time you can barely hear the unit running while standing next to it. In extreme heat it was significantly louder but still less than the old unit. Heating was amazing, the outdoor unit requires defrosting while in heat mode. This happens automatically based on outdoor temp and humidity. It took longer to heat the house up when it was rainy and well below freezing and the unit had to defrost often. But i was never cold and didnt mind the minor dips in temp during defrost.
Definitely recommend for replacement or new construction! The energy we saved with this unit allowed us to add 3 RV ACs to our bill and not notice!Posted on
- No more gasI got this to do away with over priced natural gas and stop putting window ac units in every year. Took some time to get it figured out ( setting on the unit) however the insulation when very easy ( probably because i have experience in concrete, electrical and construction/remodeling and building). The prefilled freon lines was a headache saver, although if need i have a good friend that retired from teaching hvac at the college.

- Very happy with the product, but....So I bought the new R-454B version of the Mr. Cool Versa Pro central split. Bottom line, the install process went well (thank the Lord), and it's working fantastically. The precharged line set worked great. So, my disappointment was that this system shipped with a "smart" (not so smart) 24V traditional style thermostat which turns the system on and off based on set temperature. However, I knew that this system was capable of running on a 2-wire digital controller which provides more fidelity with fan speed and overall throttling of the system (particularly the compressor). Other Mr. Cool systems of the past, as well as many Midea based units, use the KJR-120N (or some variation) controller. After several calls to Mr. Cool tech support (which was not very helpful, but kudos to them for answering the phone at odd hours) and one very helpful call with Daniel with HVACDirect, I was able to determine the KJR-120N was the part number I needed to hunt for. I found one of ebay with an ACiq badge on the front and took a chance ordering it. It worked (and is working) great. Far superior to the 24V interface, you can connect a simple 2-wire line from the AHU to the KJR-120N controller, and another 2-wire line from the AHU to the Condenser unit, and you are off to the races. It will throttle up and down as needed to maintain temperature within about +/- 1/2 a degree from what I can tell. It's disappointing that Mr. Cool stopped shipping their units with the better controller. Maybe it's not what the typical American customer is looking for (??) because it does run your AHU fan almost constantly or because it's just unfamiliar or because the 24V thermostat option is cheaper -- I don't know. Overall, I'm very pleased and plan to order a smilar 2 Ton system for another project.
