Read our privacy policyThe Multiquip MQD3HA is a 3-inch positive displacement diaphragm pump designed for moving muddy water, sludge, sewage, and other heavy debris-laden fluids. Its diaphragm design provides dependable self-priming performance and allows the pump to run dry without damage, making it well suited for demanding dewatering applications where conventional centrifugal pumps may struggle.
Powered by a 3.5 HP Honda GX120 gasoline engine, the MQD3HA delivers up to 90 GPM with a maximum 25-foot head and 25-foot suction lift. A durable sand-cast aluminum pump housing, oil-bath lubricated gear transmission, integrated wheel kit, and tubular steel handle provide a practical package for construction, excavation, flood response, agricultural, municipal, and industrial dewatering work.
A diaphragm pump uses the reciprocating movement of a flexible diaphragm to create suction and discharge pressure. This positive displacement design is particularly effective for fluids containing mud, sludge, sand, sewage, and other debris. Unlike many centrifugal pumps, the MQD3HA is designed to maintain useful pumping performance in applications involving heavy solids and can operate dry without damaging the pump mechanism.
The MQD3HA provides a maximum capacity of 90 GPM, with a maximum head of 25 feet and a maximum suction lift of 25 feet. Its 3-inch suction and discharge ports allow the pump to move larger volumes of heavily contaminated water while minimizing restrictions through the pump end.
The pump can handle solids up to 1-5/8 inches in diameter and fluids with temperatures up to 180°F. It is designed for muddy water, silt, sand, sludge, sewage water, standing water, excavation drainage, flood response, irrigation, septic applications, and other demanding fluid-transfer jobs.
The MQD3HA uses a thermoplastic Santoprene diaphragm engineered for flexibility, elasticity, and durability. Separate check valves on the suction and discharge sides help maintain prime and support consistent fluid movement through the pump.
The sand-cast aluminum pump housing provides a durable pump structure while supporting rapid priming and efficient fluid flow. A suction priming chamber helps optimize flow and provides additional resilience when the pump experiences sudden, momentary internal pressure demands.
A two-stage heavy-duty forged gear-driven transmission operates the diaphragm at approximately 60 strokes per minute. The enclosed gears, pinions, and support bearings use oil-bath lubrication to reduce wear and provide smooth, reliable operation.
The MQD3HA is powered by a Honda GX120 air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder OHV gasoline engine with a 119 cc displacement. The engine is rated at 3.5 HP for the pump application and uses recoil starting, centrifugal-mass governor control, dual-element air filtration, and a low-oil shutdown system.
The 0.7-gallon fuel tank provides approximately 2.7 hours of continuous operation at the specified fuel consumption. The engine uses SAE 10W-30 oil and has a 0.63-quart oil capacity.
The positive displacement diaphragm configuration provides strong self-priming characteristics without requiring the same wet-priming approach used by many conventional centrifugal pumps. The neoprene check valve helps retain water in the pump casing for easier startup and helps maintain prime during operation.
The MQD3HA can run dry without damage, which makes it particularly useful for applications involving slow seepage, fluctuating water levels, and intermittent flow. When pumping heavily contaminated water, the pump should be flushed after use to help prevent debris buildup and clogging.
The MQD3HA includes an integrated heavy-duty wheel kit with solid flat-free wheels and a tubular steel handle for easier transportation. A center lifting point provides another option for positioning or relocating the pump where lifting equipment is available.
A 90-degree rotatable base provides additional installation flexibility, allowing the pump configuration to better accommodate different hose routing and jobsite arrangements.
Multiquip lists several compatible 3-inch hose and coupling options for the MQD3HA, including HS320C and HS325C suction hoses, HSQ320C and HSQ325C suction hoses with quick-disconnect couplers, HD350C and HDQ350C discharge hoses, and A300A 3-inch quick-disconnect couplers.
The Multiquip MQD3HA pump is backed by a 2 Year Warranty from the date of purchase. The Honda GX120 engine carries a 3 Year Warranty, while hoses are covered for 3 months, subject to Multiquip's applicable warranty terms and conditions.
The Multiquip MQD3HA is a professional-grade 3-inch diaphragm pump engineered for difficult dewatering applications involving muddy water, sludge, silt, sand, sewage water, and other high-solids fluids. Its positive-displacement diaphragm design delivers up to 90 gallons per minute with a maximum suction of 25 feet and maximum head of 25 feet, making it especially effective for slow-seepage applications where conventional centrifugal pumps may have difficulty maintaining prime.
Designed to handle challenging debris-laden fluids, the MQD3HA can pass solids up to 1-5/8 inches in diameter and handle liquids at temperatures up to 180°F. Its high-efficiency thermoplastic Santoprene diaphragm provides excellent flexibility and durability, while separate neoprene check valves at the suction and discharge ports help maintain prime and promote dependable fluid movement.
