What Is a Submersible Dewatering Pump?

A submersible dewatering pump is designed to operate directly in the water being removed. The pump is placed into the flooded area and pushes water through the connected discharge hose instead of drawing water through a suction line.

The ST1F combines this submersible design with an integrated tethered mechanical float switch, allowing the pump to automatically start and stop as the water level changes. It is designed for construction, standing water, well casings, excavations, site drainage, manholes, flooded basements, swimming pools, irrigation, and other water-removal applications.

Understanding Flow Rate and Head

The ST1F provides a maximum pumping capacity of 18 GPM and a maximum total head of 21 feet. Actual flow will vary according to the total head and resistance in the discharge system, including hose length, elevation, fittings, and other restrictions.

Automatic Float-Switch Operation

The ST1F features a tethered industrial mechanical float switch that automatically controls the pump according to the surrounding water level. As the water rises, the float activates the pump, and as the water level falls, the float switches the pump off.

With the float switch installed, the ST1F has a minimum pumping level of approximately 4.5 inches. The float switch cable is 12 inches long, allowing the pump to operate automatically within its designed water-level range.

Low-Level Water Removal

When operated without the float switch, the ST1F can dewater flat surfaces down to approximately 0.25 inches. This low-level capability makes it useful for removing residual standing water from relatively flat surfaces after larger amounts of water have been drained.

Compact and Durable Construction

The ST1F features an industrial aluminum outer casing designed for effective motor heat dissipation. Its hardened abrasion-resistant polyethylene impeller, heat-treated carbon steel shaft, stainless steel hardware, durable strainer base, and permanently oil-lubricated triple lip seals are designed for dependable operation.

115V Electrical Operation

The ST1F operates on 115V single-phase, 60 Hz electrical power. The pump includes a 10-foot molded power cable with a NEMA 5-15P plug and strain relief. The motor uses Class F insulation, draws 2.8 running amps and 6.0 starting amps, and operates at 3,450 RPM.

Motor Protection and Sealing

Internal thermal overload protection helps protect the motor from damage caused by overloading and running the pump dry. The ST1F also uses maintenance-free dual-sealed lubricated motor bearings and a permanently oil-lubricated triple lip seal system for durability.

Operating Conditions

The ST1F is designed to pump liquids up to 104°F (40°C) and has a maximum submergence of 16.7 inches. The pump is not designed for use with salt water or chemicals and uses an oil-free mechanical shaft sealing arrangement.

Applications

The Multiquip ST1F is designed for water-removal applications including construction, standing water, well casings, excavations, site drainage, manholes, industrial applications, water supply from lakes and rivers, wastewater, quarries, flooded rooftops, irrigation, residential areas, flooded basements, swimming pools, decorative waterfalls, and fountains.

Warranty

The Multiquip ST1F pump is covered by a 90-day warranty from the date of purchase. Hoses are covered for 3 months from the date of purchase. Refer to the Multiquip New Product Limited Warranty for complete terms and conditions.

Automatic Water Removal Made Simple

The Multiquip ST1F is a compact electric submersible pump designed to make water removal easier with the added convenience of automatic operation. Powered by a 1/4 HP motor and capable of pumping up to 27 gallons per minute, the ST1F is an excellent solution for removing standing water from flooded rooms, flat roofs, basins, fountains, fill tanks, and other common residential and landscaping applications.

What sets the ST1F apart is its integrated mechanical float switch. As water levels rise, the float automatically activates the pump, and as the water level drops, it helps shut the pump off. This allows the pump to manage changing water levels without requiring constant manual monitoring, making it especially convenient for applications where water may accumulate over time.

The ST1F combines automatic operation with a compact, lightweight design that is easy to position and transport. Its corrosion-resistant aluminum casing helps dissipate internal heat, while the oil-free motor, thermal overload protection, reinforced thermoplastic impeller, and durable sealing system are designed for dependable everyday performance. The pump can remove water to within approximately 1/4 inch of the surface, helping leave less standing water behind.
