Can this RU199iN unit be installed outside?

This unit, the RU199iN, is designed to be installed in an indoor environment. Rinnai also offers the RU199eN which is the same unit but it has been designed and tested to work in an external environment. If you have any further questions we recommend that you give us a call. Thanks!

Can this be fueled using propane?

This can only be fueled by natural gas. A conversion kit would be needed for this run on propane. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.

Can this heat 140 degree water to 160 degrees?

This Rinnai unit can heat up to a maximum of 120° by default but with parameters adjustments, per the manual of the RU199iN, you can reach up to a maximum of 140°. If you have any further questions we recommend that you give us a call. Thanks!

What is the minimum flow rate for this unit?

The minimum to maximum flow rate will be 0.26 - 9.8 GPM (1.0 - 37 L/min) for the RU199iN, if you have any further questions about this unit we recommend that you give us a call. Thanks!

It was not getting hot and this unit was showing a code 12?

When a code 12 occurs with the Rinnai RU199iN it is indicating that a flame failure has occurred on the system. There are a few reasons that this may be happening. Such as, loose gas connections and fittings, debris and dirt clogging in the fan blower and gas burner, moisture in the tubing that connects the gas combustion chamber to the valve, or incorrect gas pressure supply for your hot water unit. Does this unit include an internal pump?

Rinnai tankless water heaters have built-in pumps with Smart-Circ™ Intelligent Recirculation™ that learns your schedule. No dedicated return line, no problem. A thermal by-pass valve added to the cold water line helps ensure recirculation is enabled, and your unit takes it from there. If you have any further questions please feel free to give us a call!
