This furnace is compatible with the ComfortBridge communicating system and is designed for uplfow or horizontal configurations. These furnaces are run-tested for heating or combination heating and cooling applications. Not intended for use in mobile homes.

The GSX160481 Goodman 16 SEER Central Air Conditioner uses the environmentally friendly refrigerant R-410A and features energy efficiencies and operating sound levels that are among the best in the heating and air conditioning industry. R-410A is chlorine-free to help prevent damage to the ozone layer. The GSX160481 Goodman 4 Ton AC Unit features a high-efficiency Copeland scroll compressor and is designed for the consumer who desires superior comfort, quiet operation, and environmentally friendly air conditioning performance.
In order to achieve the 16 SEER efficiency this central air conditioner must be installed with the manufacturer recommended evaporator coil, furnace, variable speed air handler, or variable speed modular blower and thermostatic expansion valve (TXV). A 16 SEER system will reduce your electric bill approximately 7% - 8% more than a 15 SEER system.

At an input of 80,000 BTU’s, the GMVC80805DN Goodman gas furnace is suitable for up to a medium-sized house in an average climate. The output of this furnace is 64,000 BTU’s, which is calculated by the input times the 80% efficiency rating.
80% Efficiency Rating
With the industry standard efficiency of 80% AFUE, the GMVC80805DN Goodman gas furnace uses 80% of the fuel going into the furnace to heat your home and the remaining 20% of the fuel going into it is used up in normal furnace operations and is lost out of the flue venting. The GMVC80805DN requires metal flue venting like any 80% efficient furnace, while anything 90% and above would require plastic or PVC venting.

The GMVC80805DN is equipped with two stages, allowing for an adjusted heat output to better suit your home’s comfort needs. The integrated variable speed blower on the furnace allows for an exact airflow output based on the requirements for your home as calculated by the control board and thermostat, keeping your home at a more constant temperature and increasing efficiency overall.
The GMVC80805DN comes standard with Goodman’s 10 year parts warranty and its phenomenal lifetime heat exchanger warranty. In order to maintain this warranty, the installation must follow your state and local codes and the unit must be registered online through the manufacturer.
The tubular heat exchanger on the GMVC80805DN is heavy-duty for constant use in the winter. Made of aluminized steel, Goodman heat exchangers provide fast and efficient heat transfer rates, all the while increasing the furnace’s dependability and reliability. The heavy-duty exterior of the unit protects all of the unit’s internal mechanisms and the secure cabinet lowers air leakage and sound output in comparison to its competitors, all providing enhanced comfort that lasts a long time.
The GMVC80805DN furnace runs natively on natural gas. When you use Goodman’s associated LP conversion kit (found here at an additional cost), this furnace can use propane instead when the installation calls for it. This Goodman furnace is also able to be installed in the upflow or horizontal positions, allowing for a broader application potential.
Goodman 4 Ton Fixed TXV Kit - R-410A
Thermostatic Expansion Valves (TXVs) are:
- A requirement for 14 SEER or higher split system heat pumps
- A requirement for many condensers or heat pump systems that use the new R-410A refrigerant
- An optional upgrade for any other air conditioner or heat pump system
Your system will operate more precisely and with greater efficiency with a TXV. These valves offer more control over how much liquid refrigerant enters the evaporator coil. The valves only allow a precise amount of liquid into the evaporator coil to ensure that all liquid that enters fully evaporates. This prevents too little liquid from entering the evaporator making the system run less efficiently. It also prevents too much liquid from entering the evaporator which can cause excess liquid in the suction line. Thermostatic Expansion Valves can be mounted in any position on the evaporator coil inlet and are reliable, efficient and virtually trouble-free. Select the TXV to correspond with the tonnage of your air conditioner or heat pump, as well as to match the type of refrigerant your systems uses, R-22 (standard) or R-410A (new alternative).
When using a TXV, manufacturer's recommend also installing a hard-start capacitor in your heat pump or condenser. This capacitor gives an extra "jolt" of electricity upon startup to push the refrigerant against higher head pressures that are present with a TXV system. If a hard-start capacitor isn't installed, the equipment compressor may sometimes have difficulty starting.
