The Santa Fe Ultra70 was the first compact whole house ventilating dehumidifier built for tight, low-clearance installs. It removes up to 70 pints of moisture per day and covers homes up to 1,800 square feet, which makes it a strong match for smaller houses, condos, and apartments.
Ducted into your HVAC system, the Ultra70 controls humidity everywhere at once instead of one room at a time. That means no musty basement smell, no clammy upstairs bedrooms, and no conditions that let mold and wood rot get started.

Customized Installation and Operation
The Ultra70 gives you three ways to install it. Tie it into your existing HVAC system with a dedicated 8" return and a supply connection with backdraft damper. Run it on its own separate ductwork. Or set it freestanding in a basement or crawl space when ducting isn't practical.
Both the return air inlet and supply air outlet use 8" duct collars. The back panel comes configured for horizontal flow through and rotates for vertical flow through with a T20 torx bit, which is what lets the same unit work in an attic, a closet, or under a floor.
Fresh air ventilation is optional and simple to add. A "T" into the inlet duct brings outdoor air into the system to dilute pollutants and maintain normal oxygen levels indoors, and the volume is adjustable with a range of dampers and controls.

I recently replaced my older R410A 4-ton single-stage Trane XR system with a new unit. While the old system worked adequately 75% of the time, it was an energy hog and struggled during the coldest and hottest days of the year. To address these issues, I decided to conduct pre- and post-total static pressure testing, which revealed problems with my return. This led me to install a custom-made return base and plenum, along with new return ducting in my attic to lower the total static pressure.
After three weekends of repairs and upgrades, I installed the new unit with a brand new lineset, wiring, and surge protectors on both the indoor and outdoor units. I set the dip switches to level 3 indoors and enabled Energy Savings mode outdoors. My HVAC company came out to braze the lines, pressure test, perform a triple vacuum, and charge the system based on a 55' lineset.
This unit is fantastic! It's quiet and energy-efficient, especially during average weather conditions, thanks to its ability to read temperatures and pressures everywhere. The unit ramps up slowly and steadily, making it very smart and reliable. I highly recommend using a single gas like R32 over mixed gases like 454B or 410A, as single gases ensure efficient operation and minimize losses during leaks.
I'll keep a close eye on the system's performance in extreme temperatures (over 105°F and under 30°F) and report back in a year. Overall, I highly recommend this unit for its efficiency and smart features.
PS... Pre-static 1.13 in WG Post-static .314 in WG Ducting and proper plenum sizing are crucial for energy savings, system longevity, and indoor comfort.
