Inside the ACiQ AERV150EC: Energy Recovery Core, EC Motors & Cabinet

The AERV150EC is built around an energy recovery core that swaps heat and moisture between the outgoing and incoming air. Dust only collects on the outer faces of the core, so the inside stays clean. A quick vacuum once a year with a soft brush attachment is all it needs.

Two enclosed EC motors handle supply and exhaust. They're rated for continuous operation, so the unit can run around the clock without wearing itself out. An onboard temperature and humidity sensor watches outdoor conditions and handles defrost and humidity shutoff for you.

At 9 inches tall and just under 24 inches square, the cabinet fits between joists, in a mechanical closet, or up in an attic. It ships with four mounting brackets and installs on a wall or ceiling in any orientation.

Day-to-day settings are made right on the unit, so it's ready to run out of the box. For control from your living space, add the optional ACiQ wall timer or digital display.

Onboard Controls (Included)

Knobs on the unit set the supply and exhaust airflow, how many minutes per hour it runs (5 to 60), and the outdoor humidity limit (30 to 80% RH). A toggle sets high speed to 120 or 150 CFM, and a reset button clears the filter reminder after service. You can also wire in your own on/off or boost switch.

Wall Timer Control (AERV.TIMER)

A one-button boost for bathrooms, kitchens, or anytime you need extra fresh air. Press once for 20 minutes of high speed, twice for 40, three times for 60, or four times to stay on high. When the time's up, the ERV goes back to its normal settings.

Digital Display Control (AERV.DISPLAY)

Control the ERV from a wall-mounted screen and see airflow plus outdoor temperature and humidity at a glance. It also shows fault alerts, so you'll know right away if something needs attention.

Where & How to Install the ACiQ AERV150EC ERV

Most installs tie the ERV into your existing furnace or air handler. Fresh air feeds into the return duct (at least 3 feet from the furnace), and your blower spreads it through the house. No ductwork? It can run on its own with dedicated supply grilles in a central spot like a hallway, pulling stale air from bathrooms and the kitchen.

It fits in a basement, mechanical closet, garage, storage room, or accessible attic or crawl space. Mounting it on a concrete surface helps cut down on vibration. Keep the space between 50°F and 104°F, leave 22 inches in front for the access door, and insulate any ductwork running through an attic or crawl space.

Both outdoor connections use 6" insulated duct. Place the fresh air intake at least 10 feet from any exhaust vent, dryer vent, or chimney. The unit plugs into a standard grounded 120V outlet, and it can also be hardwired by a qualified installer.
