Austin Air HealthMate Plus Junior Machine - Midnight Blue

The Austin Air HealthMate Jr. Plus in Midnight Blue targets VOCs and chemicals in smaller spaces. The cabinet, 200 CFM motor, and 30 sq. ft. of medical grade HEPA match the standard HealthMate Jr., with a different carbon canister inside. Coverage reaches 700 sq. ft. at two air changes per hour, or about 300 sq. ft. at four changes per hour.

The canister holds over 6.5 lbs. of activated carbon, carbon treated with potassium iodide, and mineral-based media. Treating the carbon extends its range to formaldehyde, benzene, ammonia, and acrolein, which plain carbon does not capture efficiently. Those compounds come from new flooring, pressed wood furniture, paint and adhesives, cleaning and salon products, tobacco and wildfire smoke, and highway exhaust. This is the Jr. to buy for new construction, recent remodels, homes near industry or busy roads, or chemical sensitivity.

Air is drawn in through 360-degree grilles on all four sides, then through two pre-filters, the carbon canister, and true HEPA. The manual 3-speed dial moves 50, 100, or 200 CFM. At about 18 lbs. the unit is easy to carry between rooms, and the filter pack is built to last up to five years in normal residential use. Assembled in Buffalo, New York.
