Austin Air HealthMate Plus Junior Machine - White

The Austin Air HealthMate Jr. Plus in White is the compact VOC and chemical unit in the Austin Air lineup. It uses the same cabinet, 200 CFM motor, and 30 sq. ft. of medical grade HEPA as the standard HealthMate Jr., with an upgraded carbon canister. It handles rooms up to 700 sq. ft. at two air changes per hour, or about 300 sq. ft. at four changes per hour.

The canister contains over 6.5 lbs. of activated carbon, carbon treated with potassium iodide, and mineral-based media. The treated carbon reaches formaldehyde, benzene, ammonia, and acrolein, which ordinary activated carbon adsorbs poorly. Those are the compounds released by new flooring, pressed wood furniture, paint and adhesives, cleaning and salon products, tobacco and wildfire smoke, and vehicle exhaust. Pick this model over the standard Jr. for new construction, recent remodels, homes near industry or heavy traffic, or diagnosed chemical sensitivity.

Air enters through 360-degree grilles on every side of the steel cabinet and moves through a large particle pre-filter, a medium particle pre-filter, the carbon canister, and true HEPA. A 3-speed dial handles operation at 50, 100, or 200 CFM. The unit weighs about 18 lbs., and the filter pack is rated for up to five years of normal residential use. Assembled in Buffalo, New York.
