Austin Air HealthMate Plus Unit - White (HealthMate Plus Machine)

The Austin Air HealthMate Plus in White is the VOC and chemical model in Austin Air's full-size lineup. It uses the same steel cabinet, 400 CFM motor, and 60 sq. ft. of medical grade HEPA as the standard HealthMate, with a different carbon canister. Coverage is up to 1,500 sq. ft. at two air changes per hour, or about 700 sq. ft. at four changes per hour.

The canister holds 15 lbs. of activated carbon, potassium iodide-coated carbon, and mineral-based media. Potassium iodide extends adsorption to formaldehyde, benzene, ammonia, and acrolein, which standard carbon handles poorly. Those compounds come off new flooring, pressed wood furniture, paint and adhesives, cleaning and salon products, tobacco and wildfire smoke, and vehicle exhaust. Pick this model over the standard HealthMate for new construction, recent remodels, homes near industry or heavy traffic, or diagnosed chemical sensitivity.

Air enters through 360-degree perforated grilles on all four sides, then passes through a large particle pre-filter, a medium particle pre-filter, the carbon canister, and true HEPA. Controls are a manual 3-speed dial, from quiet overnight operation on low up to 400 CFM on high. Casters are standard, the bottom plate removes for filter changes, and the filter pack is rated for up to five years of normal residential use. Assembled in Buffalo, New York.
