Today's Hours 8am - 11pm estThe Austin Air HealthMate in Sandstone is the unit that built the brand's reputation, and it is still the one most people should start with. It handles rooms up to 1,500 sq. ft. at two air changes per hour, which puts a master bedroom, an open living and dining area, a finished basement, or a small apartment comfortably in range.
All four sides of the steel cabinet are intake. Air gets pulled through 360-degree perforated grilles and works down through four stages: a large particle pre-filter for dust, hair, and pet dander, a medium particle pre-filter for mold spores and pollen, 15 lbs. of granular activated carbon and zeolite, and 60 sq. ft. of true medical grade HEPA. The carbon load is the part worth paying attention to. Most purifiers at this price use a thin carbon mat or a mesh pouch of pellets, and they stop pulling odors within months. Fifteen pounds of loose granular media is what lets the HealthMate keep working on smoke, cooking odors, formaldehyde, ammonia, and everyday VOCs long after a light carbon layer would be saturated.
Operation is a 3-speed dial. Run it low around the clock for background cleaning, then turn it up when wildfire smoke rolls in or allergy season hits. The cabinet rides on casters so you can move it room to room, the bottom plate pops off for filter changes, and the whole filter pack is built to last up to five years. Every HealthMate is assembled in Buffalo, New York.
The Austin Air HealthMate is covered by a 5-year manufacturer warranty on the motor, fan, and working parts, plus a 5-year prorated warranty on the filter under normal residential use. See the manufacturer documentation for complete terms and conditions.
