Customer Questions
Can it be converted from propane to natural gas?
Before adding to cart you have the option to choose between natural gas and propane but field conversion is not permitted. Once a gas type is chosen, it is recommended to stick with that type.   If you have any further questions please feel free to give us a call! Thanks
Does this operate with a thermostat or do you turn on and off manually?
The Buck Stove T-33 comes standard with an ON/OFF toggle switch but can also be connected to a thermostat or remote control.
What is a vent-free or ventless gas heating stove?
A vent-free (or ventless) gas heating stove is a self-contained unit that burns gas efficiently enough to release heat directly into the room without the need for a chimney or vent. These stoves use indoor air for combustion and are designed to burn fuel cleanly, producing minimal exhaust. While they offer easy installation and excellent zone heating, proper room ventilation and compliance with local codes are essential for safe operation.
Are ventless gas stoves safe to use in my home?
Ventless gas stoves are designed to burn fuel cleanly and safely, and they include built-in safety features like oxygen depletion sensors (ODS) that automatically shut the unit off if oxygen levels drop too low. When installed correctly and used in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, they can be a safe and efficient heating solution. However, because they use indoor air for combustion and release byproducts into the living space, proper room ventilation and adherence to local building codes are essential—some regions restrict or prohibit their use altogether.
What type of ignition should I choose for a gas heating stove?
Gas heating stoves typically offer two ignition options: millivolt (standing pilot) and electronic ignition (pilotless). A millivolt ignition keeps a small pilot flame burning at all times and is known for its reliability—especially in power outages—and compatibility with thermostats, wall switches, and remotes. An electronic ignition system lights the burner only when heat is needed, helping conserve fuel and lower energy costs, though it may require electricity or battery backup to operate during outages. The best choice depends on your priorities for convenience, efficiency, and backup heating.
Can I install a ventless gas stove in a bedroom or designated sleeping area?
No, ventless gas stoves are not approved for installation in bedrooms or designated sleeping areas due to safety risks related to indoor air quality and oxygen depletion. Installing a ventless stove in these spaces is against most building codes and manufacturer guidelines. For safe heating in bedrooms, always choose properly vented appliances like direct vent stoves.
