What is a Dual Zone Mini Split System?
There are different types of Air Handler options to choose from including; Ceiling Cassette, Ceiling Suspended, Concealed Duct, Floor Mounted, Multi-Positional, or Wall Mounted. Each air handler is controlled separately by its own remote control. This way every room can be set to a different temperature if desired. This creates a miniature HVAC system that can be used to heat and/or cool up to two areas without using ductwork.
Sizing your new Dual Zone Mini Split (for BTU rating) is based on the square footage of the space you are wanting to heat or cool. Each air handler can have separate BTU rating based on each room’s dimensions. With two rooms, you will want to use the square footage of each room and size the two Air Handlers separately. The below chart is a rough estimate only. Have a professional installer give you a more accurate sizing for your specific situation.
