The Year-Round Cooling Kit is designed to help your condenser continue to provide cool air in the cold months without the risk of damaging your condenser by freezing. It consists of the following three kits:
- The Hard Start Kit reduces the time the compressor is on high amp start up which will help prevent the light dimming effect the outdoor condenser causes when starting. It will also restart your condenser in the event of an emergency shutoff.
- The Freeze Protection Kit protects your indoor coil from damage due to freezing temperatures and will deactivate your condenser if a threatening temperature is detected. Open temp is 35F +/- 3, close temp is 55F +/- 6.
- The Low Ambient Kit maintains system pressure at an optimal level in the case of needing to use indoor cooling while the outside temperature is low. Do not use this kit with 16 or 18 SEER condensers that use ECM fan motors.
Freeze Protection Kit
This freeze protection kit is meant to protect your indoor coil from damage due to freezing temperatures. The indoor coils temperature is monitored and the Goodman heat pump or air conditioner will be deactivated if a threatening temperature is detected.
- Open temp is 35F +/- 3
- Close temp is 55F +/- 6
Low Ambient Kit
This low ambient kit is meant to maintain system pressures at an optimal level in the case of needing to use indoor cooling while the outside temperature is low. This is done by measuring the liquid temperature at the coil and based on that number this kit will adjust the motor speed to prevent freezing. These kits are not approved for any 16 and 18 SEER outdoor units that utilize an ECM condenser fan motor.
3.5 Ton Hard Start Kit
The CPS CSR-U-2 hard start kit is designed to be used with any brand of air conditioning or heat pump condenser ranging from 3-5 tons in size with a reciprocating compressor. This hard start kit reduces the time the compressor is on high amp start up which will help prevent the light dimming effect the outdoor condenser causes when starting.
