The HVAC company I called never showed up, and I got tired of trying to get someone to come do work that I knew would cost me thousands of dollars. So, when I found these, I replaced that evaporative cooler unit with GREE cassettes installed throughout my house in well-planned-out areas. These systems work so well and operate so quietly that sometimes you wonder if they are on. They are quieter than a normal HVAC air handler system by far. Just for that reason alone, I would pick them over normal air handlers. The normal air handler at my office constantly has noisy air, which bothers me. These are very quiet. In addition to that, an air handler would have plugged up my attic with ducts all over the place; instead, I just have drain lines and refrigerated line sets in my attic. I did a lot of research, spent several weeks reading, and then bought two of these R32 systems because some of the other types of refrigerants are being phased out. I purchased two of the 5-Zone cassette packages to install in my house. Cassette BTUs were: 18K living, 12K Den, 12K Kitchen, 12K laundry, and 12k for a side bedroom. The other package was all 12K units for 5 more bedrooms. I spent approximately 2 weeks watching and reading about how to install these systems. I spent 2-3 hours each night. I redid the framing in my ceiling in a professional way and mounted them as instructions state. I purchased high-quality line sets along with multiple tools and parts to install these systems properly. It took a lot of work, more work than I thought. This included the nitrogen pressure tests, and triple evac (vacuuming), but it was all worth it. This system is better than I expected. The inside and outside units ramp their fans/demand up and down as needed. My old swamp cooler pulled around 12 amps (10A fan, 2A pump). This system pulls between 7 and 13 amps each most of the time, and they do a much better job of cooling my entire house evenly. I can freeze my house out if I want with cool and dry air, not muggy air like the evaporative coolers. I would do it over again in a heart beat and wish I had done it years ago. We paid a lot for the systems, but we figured we saved around $35k on the install by doing it ourselves. If you do not have the knowledge, then get it (YouTube or HVAC textbooks) or make sure you get the outside professional help you need; don't wing it on systems like this. Read the instructions over and over again to make sure you make no mistakes. If in doubt, always buy a higher BTU unit, we were going to get 9K BTU cassettes; we are glad we got 12k BTU, the fans can run slower with a larger exchanger in the cassette. Everything works great, and I am very pleased.
