Description

The MRCOOL Universal Unitary Heat Pump system is an easy to install, full size air handler with a slim condenser, suitable for most 4-5 ton applications. This system is incredibly flexible, combining the ultimate in ducted comfort and easy installation. The 5 ton condenser can be field converted to a 4 ton with a different dip switch setting. The quick connect fittings on the condenser and air handler allow for an easy installation processes with MRCOOL's pre-charged lines, available as an accessory up to 50 feet in length. Using the same inverter technology used by the MRCOOL mini splits, the system can run at different speeds to optimize comfort and efficiency.

Would a 5 ton work in a 1800 square foot greenhouse and maintain a 70 degree temperature year-round in ND?

The Quick Sizing Calculator located at the bottom of our Sizing Guide will give you the quick answer of whether it's the appropriate size for your greenhouse or not. Regarding it maintaining a 70 degree temperature in North Dakota, I would recommend giving us a call and speaking with one of our experts about it. There are a lot of factors to take into consideration when setting up a system like this for greenhouse use. Can this unit tie into existing ductwork?

Which size system will I need for 2000 squared ft.² house?

Thank you for your question. In addition to square footage, the size of system you will require is dependent upon several other factors. These additional factors include the climate zone the space is located, the number of windows and the quality of insulation. For instance, in the warmest U.S. climates a 4 ton system will cool about 2101 to 2400 square feet. In the colder U.S. climates, this same 4 ton system will cool about 2301 to 2700 square feet. For heating, different parameters apply. In the warmer climates, you will need about 30 to 35 BTU per square foot for adequate heating; In colder climates you will need about 50 to 60 BTUs per square foot for adequate heating. But again, the quality of insulation and number of windows also impacts this range. For more in depth information on sizing, please reference our sizing guide. Can the system be down flow

The MRCOOL ducted heat pump systems are not rated for downflow operation. We do however have several heat pump products from Goodman and AirQuest that do offer a downflow solution (Example: Model #R4H460GKC / FEM4X6000BL).
