FAQ's

Customer Questions

Can I Install a TV Over a Direct Vent Fireplace?

Yes, you can install a TV above most Direct Vent Fireplaces, but it’s important to follow the manufacturer’s clearance guidelines for safe installation. Always check the owner’s and installation manuals for the minimum distance between the fireplace and your TV to avoid heat damage. Consider using mantels or heat deflectors to protect your electronics, and ensure your wall can support both the heat load and TV weight.

What type of ignition should I choose for a Direct Vent Gas Firepalce?

Direct Vent Gas Fireplaces typically offer two main ignition options: millivolt (standing pilot) and electronic ignition (pilotless). A millivolt ignition uses a continuously burning pilot light and is popular for its simplicity and reliability—it works even during power outages and is often compatible with wall switches or remote controls. Electronic ignition systems, also known as intermittent pilot ignition (IPI), only light the pilot when heat is needed, reducing gas usage and improving energy efficiency. While electronic ignition is more efficient, it may require battery backup or electricity to function during a power outage.

What is a Direct Vent Gas Fireplace and Is It Safe for My Home?

A Direct Vent Gas Fireplace is a highly efficient, sealed combustion heating appliance that draws air from outside the home for combustion and expels exhaust gases directly outdoors. Unlike traditional fireplaces, it does not rely on indoor air, making it a safe, clean, and energy-efficient heating solution. Direct Vent Gas Fireplaces are ideal for homeowners looking for a safe, cost-effective, and low-maintenance alternative to wood-burning fireplaces. At HVACDirect.com, we offer a wide selection of top-rated models backed by industry-leading warranties and expert customer support.

Do I Need a Blower for My Fireplace to Heat My Home Effectively?

While a fireplace blower isn’t required for your fireplace to function, it can significantly increase heat output and energy efficiency. A blower circulates warm air from the fire into your living space, rather than letting it rise and escape through the chimney or remain trapped inside the fireplace unit. If you're using your fireplace as a primary or supplemental heat source, adding a blower is a smart and cost-effective upgrade. At HVACDirect.com, we offer fireplace blower kits compatible with top brands to help you get the most out of your gas or wood-burning fireplace.

What Are Linear Gas Fireplaces and Why Are They Popular?

Linear gas fireplaces are wide, low-profile fireplaces known for their modern, streamlined design and clean, horizontal flame presentation. Unlike traditional fireplaces, which are more square or arched, linear fireplaces typically measure 48 inches to 72 inches or more in width, making them a striking architectural feature in contemporary homes. Linear gas fireplaces from HVACDirect.com are perfect for homeowners who want to combine elegant aesthetics, high efficiency, and safe heating technology. Our collection includes top-rated brands with customizable options and expert guidance to help you find the perfect fit for your space.
