Osburn Stoves and inserts are the premium stove line for one of the largest wood stove manufacturer's in North America. Here are some of the features that sets Osburn apart from other stove manufacturers:

  • Kiln Fired Clay Firebrick- Which hold up longer than pumice bricks to keep the inside of the stove hotter and burn the wood more completely.
  • Stainless Steel Secondary Air Tubes- Which introduce new oxygen into the firebox creating a secondary ignition which gets more heat from less wood.
  • Heavy Steel Construction- Made from a 3/16"" steel body and a 1/4"" thick steel top which carries a lifetime warranty.
  • Ceramic Glass- Which can withstand high temperatures and still allows you to enjoy the fire.
  • An Air Wash System- To help keep the glass clean when the stove is in use.

Clean burning, non-catalytic wood burning stoves introduce new oxygen into the firebox before the smoke leaves the stove. The new oxygen is ignited, creating a secondary burn. This generates more heat and creates a cleaner burn. A wood burning insert will turn an inefficient open fireplace into a productive heat source.

Customer Questions
what is the typical clearance between the the back of the stove and the fire protected wall behind
The clearance between the back of the Osburn Stove and the wall varies from wall to corner installation. Please refer to the Installation and User Manual which describes in detail the exact dimensions. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
Soapstone benefits?
Soapstone is a great alternative to either steel or cast iron. Soapstone stoves will not burn as hot as others but will provide you with longer, more consistent heat meaning you won't need to refill with wood as often. The high efficiency, durability, and cost-cutting effectiveness makes this soapstone stove a great addition to a home. Lastly, another great factor of soapstone is the aesthetic as they can look great in many spaces. If you have any further questions please feel free to give us a call! Thank you.
Would the heater be good inside an enclosed pool area?

What Size Wood Stove Do I Need for My Home?
Choosing the right wood stove size is essential for efficient home heating and energy savings. Wood stoves are typically categorized as SMALL, MEDIUM, or LARGE based on their heating capacity. SMALL wood stoves are designed to heat rooms or smaller homes up to 1,500 square feet, while MEDIUM stoves can handle areas up to 2,500 square feet. LARGE wood stoves are best suited for homes with open floor plans or spaces exceeding 2,500 square feet. Keep in mind that a stove’s heating performance can vary depending on the type of firewood used, insulation quality, ceiling height, and the layout of your space. At HVACDirect.com, we offer a wide selection of EPA-certified wood stoves to match the size and heating needs of any home.
Do any wood burning stoves qualify for a federal tax credit, and how can I find eligible models?
Yes, certain wood stoves qualify for a federal tax credit of up to 30% of the purchase and installation cost under the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit, valid through December 31, 2025. To qualify, stoves must meet efficiency standards of at least 75% thermal efficiency and be EPA-certified. You can find all qualifying models clearly marked on HVACDirect.com product pages or view them directly at https://hvacdirect.com/stoves/tax-credit-stoves.html.
Do I need a hearth pad for my wood stove?
Yes, a hearth pad is required under all wood burning stoves to protect your flooring by insulating against heat and preventing sparks or embers from causing damage. Installing a proper hearth pad ensures safety and compliance with building codes when setting up your stove.
Do I need a blower for my wood stove?
A blower is an excellent addition that helps increase the heat output and efficiency of your wood stove, fireplace, or insert by circulating warm air more effectively. While most appliances can operate without a blower, adding one is beneficial if you want to distribute heat faster and more evenly throughout your space. If additional heating isn’t necessary, you can run your stove without a blower just fine.
What type of chimney do I need for my wood stove?
Wood stoves typically use black stove pipe that runs from the stove to the wall or ceiling. From there, the pipe must connect to a masonry chimney or transition to a Class A chimney pipe designed to safely handle high temperatures and exhaust gases. Choosing the right chimney components ensures safe and efficient venting of your wood stove.
