- Extreme heat works greatI'm coming up on two years with this system installed. My installation consists of an Ecobee thermostat connected to the air handler, then the 2-wire communication from the AH to the unit outside. The only installation hiccup was the Ecobee not putting out enough volts for the reversing valve. That was a thermostat issue, not the fault of this equipment. The system does a great job heating and cooling the house. We've had some cold days were the lows are -5F and the highs were only 20F. The heat pump was able to keep up! The only time in the almost two year my aux heat kicked on was during a massive snowfall in very cold temps. Once the snow stopped, the heat pump was able to defrost and keep on working. I highly recommend.

- Good quality, very efficient. Extreme Heat is pretty neat!I have had my system for two summers and two winters now, and have been very impressed with the heating and cooling costs, the quiet operation and how well it seems to be holding up. The condensing unit outside still looks like new, with no fading or rust spots. I installed the entire system myself and the installation instructions were easy enough to understand, especially since I bought a matched system. I've been really impressed with heat this thing can still produce even at 10 degrees outside. I've not had auxiliary heat come on at all.
The ONE thing I hate is that you can not have the air handler fan run in automatic on cooling when using the two wire thermostat. That causes me a bad humidity problem in the summer and I've had to try to control it by shutting off the system or turning it to dehumidify only, until it freezes me and I have to shut if off. I've heard you can install a regular 24 volt thermostat and have the ability to only run the fan when it's cooling, but you'll loose some efficiency, and that kinda defeats the point of having a high efficiency system!Review by Mike

- Poor Quality 1 Year LaterI bought this system and was so happy with it for a year. Then we got a leak in the coil. The warranty only covers parts, but the problem is with getting a free replacement coil it will still cost about $3k in labor to fix. And this is a manufacturer defect. Will update when it is resolved but so far I definitely question the overall build quality.

- ACiQ 3 Ton 18 SEER High Efficiency Heat PumpHappy with this product. I gave service a 5 star, but I didn't need support. The manual and online instruction are all one needs if installing yourself. As someone has said before...this is at the high end of the Bell curve for DIY but once you've done it...you could do the next fairly easy. For my install, the most difficult part was the duct work. I had an AC unit beforehand, but it was a different size, so I had to modify the ducting. My attic is a tight space, so it took some work. I bought duct board at a local HVAC supplier along with mastic. Mastic is your friend and covers many mistakes. Really good stuff. Also, I had a difficult time running my line set and kinked it in a few spots. I had pipe benders, but I wasn't happy with the results. I order some 45 degree and straight HVAC fittings and used Staybrite 8 and my propane torch where I kinked it. No leaks. I recommend spending some money on pipe bending inserts. You insert them in the pipe and bend by hand. The corners flatten a bit, but it will be okay. Measure and take your time. Vacuum the system below 500 microns and if it holds...your good to go. You can buy gauges, vacuum pump, flaring tool and etc. fairly cheap but don't go cheap on the core removal tools. My system covered 25 feet of tubing without having to add refrigerant. I'm using the thermostat that came with the system which is about as easy an install as you can get. There's also an app, which I use, where you can control the temp from your phone anywhere. Overall, I love this system. Super quiet and keeps my place cool/warm without knowing it is doing anything. I highly recommend.

- Quiet but effective!The old AC unit wouldve cost a stack to fix and was LOUD. The gas furnace was costing several hundred dollars a month because the thermostat wouldn't control to requested temp. For the price of servicing the old appliances, I purchased this heat pump system that arrived 3 days after the purchase, and which is super quiet and effective. I can't wait to see the difference in the bills, but already the home is was instantaneously cool in this GA heat.

- Best business I have ever worked with!!!It all started when my furnace wanted to start and stop regardless of the thermostat. I tested everything sure enough my e0 yr old furnace was slowly dying. I ordered a new system. I took a week to plan and choose. We decided on a heat pump system. We'll I ordered a regular A/C with electric heat... then I provided the wrong email by accident during the order process so I didn't get any alerts or updates. I called and we got that fixed. Then later that day the email came. As I reviewed the details I realized at 6pm Friday night roughly 7 hours after placing the order it was the wrong systrm!! Some how it populated in the heat pump category. Any how they were quick to cancel the order. The process was pretty quick compared to other places even though it felt like it was taking forever. But they managed to contact the shipping vendor and hold the shipment. We got it canceled and their awesomely awesome sales team navigated through all the options I wanted and they put it all together for me. I ordered it officially about a week and half after the wrong one was canceled. It arrived very well packed and clean. The setup was easy and everything I needed for parts were there. Nothing missing!!! That's an amazing thing these days. If I ever need anything they have I'm ordering it from.them. they are fantastic!!! R&L is a great shipping company too! Attention to detail. - Surprisingly surprisedThis is my second purchase of the ACiQ 3 Ton 18 SEER High Efficiency Central Heat Pump System, Inverter, Extreme Series. I own a duplex and live on one side. I purchased the first system and liked it so much I purchased the second for the air bnb side of the duplex. I have been so happy with the performance of this machine. It is whisper quiet and my electric bills are down. The salespeople are very knowledgeable which helped as this is the first time I've ever purchased my own unit. The AC companies in my town were glad to sell me a base model unit for 10 grand. I did not want a trane unit so found HVAC direct online did some research on brands and decided on ACIQ. I did have a little problem finding someone to install. Companies won't do it because they want you to buy their units at their price and they use the excuse that they cannot warranty it, thankfully I was able to warranty the unit myself at ACIQ. ANYWAY I found an independent AC guy who installed for me for $1600. He told me that it was smart the way I did it and bascially saved 4 grand. I did purchase WeCooper Heavy Duty Mini Split Wall Mounting Bracket, which holds up to 550 lbs and had it wall mounted which I love having it off the ground (due to dogs), I also had my AC guy put in the Reme-Halo purification system for $1600 for both units. Happy and cool in Texas!

- So Far I'm very happy!During this brutal winter we had our Heating system fail. I couldn't even get a heat strip for the old system and so we were without heat with the Ohio Temps in the teens. I had to buy 3 space heaters to keep us just a little warm. The Ohio town we live in is void of service people, but finally I got a Company to come out and help me. These guys told me what to order,, and so I shopped on line and found the unit I purchased. It's still in the low teens this week and the equipment is heating the house well. - Good Value, Consider Heat KitI am generally pleased with this energy-efficient, variable-speed heat pump. Great value for the features. However, heating struggled at 14°F despite ACiQ's -22°F claim do need supplemental electric heat.
Key Points:
Pros: Efficient, variable-speed, good price.
Cons: Questionable extreme cold weather heating.
Important: If you experience cold winters (below freezing regularly), strongly recommend adding the "Electric Heat Kit" during installation to ensure adequate heating capacity. My technician advised this after my unit couldn't keep up at 14°F.

- Saved over $12KWe purchased the 3 Ton 18 SEER High-Efficiency Central Heat Pump System with Extreme Heat to replace an existing natural gas furnace with an outdoor A/C unit. Before purchasing, we received multiple quotes, all for around $18K for a two-stage, dual-fuel heat pump system. The SEER rating wasn't as high as this unit. I removed the old unit and installed the new equipment, including running the line set. I then hired a professional to do the final hookup with a pressure test. Overall, we saved over $10K doing most of the work ourselves.
It was one of the harder DIY projects, and it took several weeks, but it was worth it. We have a two-story, 2700 sq ft home, and the upstairs has always been about 10 degrees hotter than the basement. With this new unit, every room is the same temperature year-round. Our home is finally comfortable!
I highly recommend the DIY HVAC Guy YouTube channel. It does a great job explaining how to disconnect and remove your old unit, as well as several useful tips of the trade. Modifying the duct work to fit the new unit took a while, but with the right tools, it's doable. I strongly recommend using braided communication wire and keeping the OEM thermostat. It's not as nice looking as a NEST or other wireless controller, but it will work more efficiently with the ACiQ system. Good luck!Review by Christian

- A good unitI'm a former HVACR tech bought this for my own house & installed it about 6 months ago. This works great keeps up at low temps & puts out high 90s to 100 depending on which vent i measure. The overall build quality seems excellent my only complaint is that when you use the 2 wire set-up the provided thermostat is actually just an interface, the AH unit is what actually measures the temp so if the unit is off you have no temperature display but that's the only negative I've found so far.

- Perfect System, maybe not for every DIYer.Right off, I want to thank HVACdirect.com for offering these units for purchase. A vitally needed service for advanced DIYers and small-market HVAC outfits.
On the bell curve of DIY projects tackled over the years, this one is way out on the right edge of difficulty. I've installed several mini-split units over the years, this is another layer of difficulty beyond that. I just took it slowly, watched a bunch of YT videos and read the manuals several times. I had to modify the inlet and outlet ductwork in the rental house to get it all to fit correctly. After all of that, I'm sure I saved myself 10k by going this route and it works GREAT now. I'm really happy with the unit and how it all went.
If you have the right tools, plan your work and get help when you need it, you can do this. I'm going to buy another one or two soon for my other rental properties and I'm looking forward to doing the installs. Thanks for reading my experience with this unit.Review by ssbn734

- ACIQ-36-HPC, ACIQ-36-ACL and N96MSN0802120AReplaced my heating and cooling equipment due to the age of existing equipment. I had excess solar power so I wanted to use a cold climate heat pump to heat the house to keep my energy bill the same. The heat pump has performed well keeping your 2500 sq ft house at 68F in upstate NY. The system run time varies depending on outside temp and uses about 3.5kw to 4.5 kw per hour when heating. Its going to be cold next week which will be a good test to see it can keep up will with below zero temps outside. Have not tested the cooling side since it was installed in December. No issues with the furnace its worked great heating the house using the natural gas side of the hybrid system. Tech support was very helpful because the installer had not installed a ACIQ heat pump brand and assisted in configuring the dip switches in the Heat Pump for use with a non communicating thermostat. Hoping it last as long as old stuff removed.

- Great kit, with one nit - Will buy again or similar when my second unit dies.This thing came stupidly fast and I was able to install it at a reasonable pace. My only small complaint is that the unit shipped with one set of braze to flare adapters, not 2. They obviously provided the adapters for replacement applications, which mine was, but to reuse existing lines you need one set of adapters inside and a second outside. I bought the Mr Cool set for 50 bucks from Lowes. Again it is not a big deal, but when you get half of the adapter solution with it, you have to wonder why not the full deal.
The unit seems to work well so far. It cools and heats but we have yet to have any weather that stresses it. The instructions were so so. It wasn't blatantly obvious what unit I needed to look at in the instructions as they applied to many variants.Review by Rob

- IMPRESSEDBefore ordering, I had questions, all were answered and put my mind at ease. Unit arrived in December; took until June to get the install. Install was easy per installer. Worked fantastic, then after a week, the old thermostat as blank. Replaced t stat with a newer model, and again works great. This week is the first over 90 degree days this summer, I am sure it will have no problems. I am very impressed at how quite this unit runs and how quickly the humidity level in my home dropped. Now I need to replace my blower with one that is quiet...I never knew how loud it is until now. My condo unit is a 'garden' unit, and the two hvac's for units above me are outside my unit. They now sound very loud now. I will be recommending the ACIQ to the Property Manager for future Owner upgrades.

- This is an amazing system. Highly recommend!I am an HVAC technician with over a decade of experience. I installed this system in my home, with new ductwork, lineset, wiring, everything brand new. I have had this system installed in my home for the last 8 months and now that I have been able to see how it performs in various weather conditions I am leaving a review for it.
This system has not given me any problems whatsoever since install. Literally performed flawlessly from day one. We've had 100⁰+ days and recently down as low as 15⁰, and it maintains temperature without any issue. At 15⁰ outdoor temp the auxiliary heat strips are rarely needed, defrost cycles are quick and infrequent once the air becomes dry. I have no doubts this system would maintain temp even below 0⁰F. The outdoor unit is good looking, runs quietly at most times. Defrost cycles can be heard, and it seems to ramp up the fans fairly loud when ending a cooling or heating cycle. Not enough to be bothersome but it is audible from inside at times. The indoor unit blower is very quiet.
Overall just an excellent value. This equipment is nearly identical to products offered by Carrier. The only caveat I would say for this product is carefully consider who installs this, it would make for a challenging DIY project. It can be difficult to install, it does need to be installed and setup properly to ensure proper performance and long life. But if you can find a good company or HVAC tech to verify everything is done correctly and perform a proper vacuum and charge procedure then I would expect an equally terrific outcome for you.

- Heat my 1900 square foot house no problem.Got the unit install no problem. The unit is well built. A lot of technologies put in to built these unit. I end up using Ecobee thermostat and using Shielded communication wire from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit. Set the dip switch SW1-1 to on and the unit work fine. At 33 deg outdoor the unit return air at 68 deg and supply 103 deg 35 deg TD not bad. The AHU LED cover is a metal cover I end up bought a plastic picture frame from Dollar store and cut it to size so you can see what mode the unit running. Long tern reliability the Jury still out.

- I should have gotten one sooner!I installed the 3 Ton 18 SEER ACiQ Inverter Heat Pump Condenser with a 5 ton coil that matched my furnace box. The service manual has a chart to set the pressures to based on Temperature when at stable high cool/heat. I have it setup as a dual fuel configuration with my ancient 60% furnace. I am in Iowa and we get negative Temps. This heat pump has already saved me hundreds of dollars on my heating bill.

- 4th system purchasedThis our 4th system purchase from HVAC direct. We have been very happy with the previous purchases. This last purchase seems all okay except for one issue. the Line set was to be 3/4” and 3/8” 30 foot. Since we just opened all of the boxes today, we found the 3/8” pipe was missing from the line set box. Only the 3/4” insulated pipe was in the box. The weather has been so cold we have stored the shipment until today.

- Installing and performanceThe US HVAC industry has been put on notice. As a contractor I've installed 9 of these systems some with back-up heat most without. All customers are extremely happy with its performance. As a contractor I decided to do my own home replacing my boiler and propane gas furnace with these systems. I no longer have oil or propane bills and these systems practically paid for them selves in the first year.
