Read our privacy policyThe Santa Fe SmartAire Remote Humidity Sensor (4044000) reads relative humidity in the room you actually care about, not the room where the dehumidifier happens to sit. Mount it in a crawl space, basement, or living area up to 100 feet from the unit and the dehumidifier holds your setpoint based on what the sensor sees.
That matters any time the equipment is installed away from the conditioned space. A dehumidifier in a mechanical closet or attic is reading its own local air, which can be several points off from the space below. The remote sensor closes that gap and stops the unit from short-cycling or running longer than it needs to.
It's a wired 24V sensor that powers off the dehumidifier, so there's no separate transformer or outlet to run. Two conductors of 18-22 gauge wire get you there, up to 100 feet (wire sold separately, install to local code). Setpoint stays on the dehumidifier's onboard digital control, so homeowners have one place to adjust and nothing extra to learn. The housing is 2" x 2" x 0.6" and paintable, so it disappears into finished space. Screws, wall anchors, and an adhesive mounting pad are included.
