QUICK FACTS

  • 3 ton, 15.2 SEER2 AC-only condenser
  • Proudly Made in the USA: High-quality HVAC equipment crafted with precision and reliability
  • Can cool up to a medium size house in average conditions
  • Single stage compressor

3 Tons

The RunTru by Trane A4AC5036D1 air conditioner condenser has an output of 3 tons, generally enough to cool up to a medium size house in ideal climates. In many system configurations, the tonnage of the unit's paired coil or air handler will be larger in tonnage than this condenser, which maintains the efficiency of the unit. Please note that this condenser cannot function or provide any sort of heating on its own, and it needs an indoor coil or air handler to work. If you have any questions, please contact us.

15.2 SEER2

The RunTru by Trane A4AC5036D1 air conditioner condenser is rated at 15.2 SEER2, making it between 5-7% more efficient than 14.3 SEER2 units, saving you money in electric bills over the entire lifetime of your unit.

Warranty

RunTru by Trane offers a 10 year compressor, outdoor coil, and parts warranty on this condenser. For these warranties to be upheld, the unit must be installed following your state and local codes, a new and certified evaporator coil must be installed at the same time, and the entire system must be registered online through the manufacturer.

Durability

The cabinet of RunTru by Trane units are extremely durable. On the A4AC5036D1, there are reinforced corner posts and the internals of the unit are protected by an additional inlet grille, all to provide enhanced protection to the unit.

I bought a house that had a furnace already installed with the a/c evaporator also present, but no line set or condenser. The quotes to have someone else do the work were crazy, so I decided to figure out how to do it myself. The research took quite a while, I had to buy the tools that were needed, and I had to rent a nitrogen tank, but the result has been excellent. The a/c system has run well now for 2 years. The cost to run the a/c has been low because of the efficiency of this unit. This condenser is very quiet. I wouldn't hesitate to place it next to a bedroom.

It was great to find a replacement outside unit for below half what the hvac companies wanted. It took a little bit to find a tech that would install it. I know HVAC direct does a lot through their prices but I wonder if they could create a list of techs that would install it. I’ll definitely get my future parts from here and recommend them to friends

Customer Questions
Who makes RunTru?
RunTru HVAC products are made by Trane Technologies, a well-known and reputable manufacturer in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry. RunTru is a brand developed by Trane to offer reliable and cost-effective HVAC solutions, maintaining Trane’s commitment to quality and performance.
I'm looking to replace my Trane unit and this RunTru unit seems to have about the same specs - are they the same product?
RunTru is made by the same company as Trane as well as brands like American Standard, Ameristar, and OxBox. Many of the internal components can be cross-referenced for shared parts. So, yes, apart from the name on the badge – very similar if not identical.
What happens if it arrives damaged?
If you are present during drop-off and you see obvious signs of damage or rough handling in transit - please ask the driver to wait while you inspect the equipment. If it is damaged badly enough that you believe it can not function, you have the right to refuse the damaged portion of the shipment. If you discover the damage after the driver has left, take photos of the damage and send them to customerservice@hvacdirect.com. Please refer to your order number in the email. This starts the process and one of our representatives will be in touch with you promptly.
How can I find an installer?
It’s easier than you think – the key is to find an independent contractor or small company as opposed to a larger HVAC service. A one or two person outfit will do the work more quickly and cheaply than a bigger company, too. Yelp.com, Thumbtack.com, and Porch.com are websites that are designed to help you connect with a professional in your area. You could also place a call to the last professional who did work on your home and see if they have any recommendations.
Should I order a new lineset?
Our top recommendation – protect your investment by replacing your lineset when you replace your outdoor condenser. Leftover oil and or contaminants in the old lineset can enter your new system and reduce the lifespan. If, on the other hand, you wish to avoid replacing the lineset, we do carry flush kits to clean out incompatible oils and contaminants.
Which models are treated for coastal climates?
All of our Trane condensers are approved for coastal installations. For these locations, Trane recommends giving them a monthly rinse with fresh water to maintain their finish. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
