The Goodman GCVM971005CN furnace is a high-efficient gas furnace that features a modulating gas valve and a variable-speed circulating blower provides efficient and economical performance.Unlike single stage gas furnaces that operate either all on or all off, a Goodman modulating gas furnace typically runs at the lowest possible speed to precisely maintain a constant, steady temperature in your house. This furnace is designed to be installed in either a downflow or horizontal configuration. Not intended for mobile homes.

Goodman AC - The GSX160601 Goodman 16 SEER Central Air Conditioner uses the environmentally friendly refrigerant R-410A and features energy efficiencies and operating sound levels that are among the best in the heating and air conditioning industry. R-410A is chlorine-free to help prevent damage to the ozone layer. The GSX160601 features a high-efficiency Copeland scroll compressor and is designed for the consumer who desires superior comfort, quiet operation, and environmentally friendly air conditioning performance.
In order to achieve the 16 SEER efficiency this central air conditioner must be installed with the manufacturer recommended evaporator coil, furnace, variable speed air handler, or variable speed modular blower and thermostatic expansion valve (TXV). A 16 SEER system will reduce your electric bill approximately 7% - 8% more than a 15 SEER system.

With an input of 100,000 BTU’s and an efficiency of 97%, the GCVM971005CN has an output of 97,000 BTU’s. This is calculated by taking 100,000 BTU’s times the efficiency of 97%. As such, the GCVM971005CN Goodman gas furnace is designed to be able to cover up to a medium-sized house in ideal climate conditions.
With one of the highest efficiencies possible with today’s technology, Goodman saves you a lot of money in utility bills for the lifetime of the unit. The GCVM971005CN gas furnace is 97% efficient, meaning that a whopping 97% of the gas going into the furnace is used to heat your home, and only 3% of the fuel going into the furnace is lost to basic furnace operations. Thanks to its efficiency, the GCVM971005CN is a condensing furnace, meaning that it requires plastic or PVC pipe flue venting.

Out of the factory, the GCVM971005CN has a built-in natural gas orifice set. However, an LP conversion kit (found here)can be purchased as an accessory and field-installed if propane is required for your installation.

To allow for installation in more situations, the GCVM971005CN gas furnace can be installed in the downflow or horizontal orientations. The modulating gas valve is self-calibrating, allowing it to automatically configure for each installation. For ease of maintenance, there is an integrated self-diagnostic control board that continuously monitors the system for any possible issues in operation, reliability, and even efficiency, and if there are any issues, there is an easy-to-read display for you and your contractor to quickly identify the problem and solve it faster. With the CAPF4961C6 evaporator coil, Goodman provides an enhanced comfort to your home. With its ability to work with AC-only systems or with heat pumps and its ability to be installed in both the upflow or downflow orientations, the CAPF4961C6 is designed to be versatile in design and to provide an efficient comfort at a low cost.
The Goodman CAPF4961C6 evaporator coil is rated for a 4 to 5 ton output. In many system configurations, this coil may be larger in tonnage than its paired condenser. This is intentional, to maintain the overall efficiency of the entire system.Please note that in order for this coil to function, a furnace or blower and a condenser is required, all sold separately.
The CAPF4961C6 coil is covered under Goodman’s standard 10 year parts warranty when the unit is installed following your state and local codes, the coil is paired with a compatible condenser, and the entire system is registered online through the manufacturer.
The Goodman CAPF4961C6 evaporator coil is able to be installed in upflow and downflow applications. With its rust-resistant, thermoplastic drain plan, water retention rate is significantly lower than previous models. For even more enhanced durability, the cabinet is made of a strong galvanized-steel with a leather-grain finish. If you ever need to perform maintenance on your coil, there is a split-seam on the front of the casing for easy internal access. Please note that this coil will not work as a replacement for any single-piece air handler coils.
The CAPF4961C6 evaporator coil’s foil-faced insulation lowers air leakage, increasing the amount of air flow going into your ductwork, keeping you more comfortable while decreasing the unit’s run time. With compatible equipment, the CAPF4961C6 evaporator coil lives up to Goodman’s enhanced comfort and efficiency standards at a reasonable price.
Thermostatic Expansion Valves (TXVs) are:
Your system will operate more precisely and with greater efficiency with a TXV. These valves offer more control over how much liquid refrigerant enters the evaporator coil. The valves only allow a precise amount of liquid into the evaporator coil to ensure that all liquid that enters fully evaporates. This prevents too little liquid from entering the evaporator making the system run less efficiently. It also prevents too much liquid from entering the evaporator which can cause excess liquid in the suction line. Thermostatic Expansion Valves can be mounted in any position on the evaporator coil inlet and are reliable, efficient and virtually trouble-free. Select the TXV to correspond with the tonnage of your air conditioner or heat pump, as well as to match the type of refrigerant your systems uses, R-22 (standard) or R-410A (new alternative).
When using a TXV, manufacturer's recommend also installing a hard-start capacitor in your heat pump or condenser. This capacitor gives an extra "jolt" of electricity upon startup to push the refrigerant against higher head pressures that are present with a TXV system. If a hard-start capacitor isn't installed, the equipment compressor may sometimes have difficulty starting.
