80,000 BTU

The GM9C800803BN Goodman gas furnace is 80,000 BTU’s. This BTU count is a measure of the input of the furnace per hour, while the output of this furnace is 64,000 BTU’s (80,000 X 80% AFUE) per hour. In ideal climate conditions, this 80,000 BTU furnace is usually used to heat a medium-sized house.

80% Efficiency Rating

The GM9C800803BN Goodman gas furnace is 80% efficient, and the standard furnace efficiency on the market today. This means that 80% of the gas going into the furnace is used to heat your home and the remaining 20% is lost out of the flue venting. Please note that all 80% furnaces must be vented using metal flue venting, while anything higher than 90% efficient must be vented using plastic/PVC venting.

Please note that this furnace does not comply with California Low NOx or Ultra-Low NOx regulations. For the Low NOx equivalent of this furnace, click here. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Two Stage Furnace

The GM9C800803BN Goodman gas furnace is a two stage furnace that has two heating outputs on the burner: full output on colder winter days and a lower output for milder days that the furnace doesn’t have to run quite as much. Two stage furnaces allow for a more even heat distribution, as the furnace will only kick on the higher stage if the indoor temperature is more than a few degrees away from the desired temperature. Since the lower stage will be used more often, the GM9C800803BN will run quieter than a single stage system. While the majority of the benefits of a two stage feature on a furnace are comfort based, the efficiency of the furnace is slightly higher due to it burning less fuel at its lower stage.

Natural Gas or LP Furnace

From the factory, the GM9C800803BN runs on natural gas. However all Goodman gas furnaces can be converted to propane using the furnace’s corresponding LP conversion kit, an optional accessory at an additional cost that consists of a replacement set of orifices and springs.

9-Speed ECM Blower Motor

Instead of the last generation PSC blower motor, the GM9C800803BN utilizes a multi-speed ECM motor, which uses less power and provides smarter air circulation. All of this causes an overall increase in the electrical efficiency of your furnace, which saves you money.

Warranty

With installation that follows your state and local codes and with online registration, all Goodman furnaces come with a 10-year parts and lifetime heat exchanger warranty through the manufacturer.

Durable Hot Surface Igniter

The hot surface igniter on modern Goodman furnaces are more durable than previous designs, decreasing related issues and lowering maintenance costs. These hot surface ignitors are also more efficient than standing pilot and older HSI designs, saving you even more money.

Self-Diagnostic Control Board

The Goodman brand has improved technology from years of production experience, allowing for a long-lasting product that rarely has any issues. However, if something does go wrong on the furnace, the control board has a set of sensors that allow it to diagnose basic issues, allowing for easy troubleshooting and to notify the owner if basic maintenance or warranty work is recommended. This increases the overall safety of the unit, for the furnace itself and the occupants of the home where it is installed.

Heavy Gauge Steel Cabinet

The heavy-gauge steel cabinet on new Goodman furnaces provide adequate protection to the internal mechanisms of the unit. The cabinet is also more air-tight than previous models, allowing for a quiet, more economical unit due to losing less heat and preventing more sound from exiting the unit.

Ease of Installation

The value of modern Goodman furnaces doesn't end at efficiency. Today’s Goodman furnaces feature many different connection options to reduce installation. The GM9C800803BN model has a more universal design, which consists of its ability to be installed in both an upflow or horizontal configuration. This allows for an easier installation in more locations, from your attic to your basement. The furnace also comes with color-coded low-voltage terminals that allow for a shorter and easier installation time, which decreases installation costs.

Customers Say

Across dozens of installs, buyers report smooth replacements of older 60–100k BTU furnaces with 80,000 BTU and 60k BTU 96% two-stage models that run much quieter, heat more evenly, and in several cases reduced energy bills, including after replacing 20- to 25-year-old units and through at least one full winter of use. Installation is widely described as straightforward for DIYers, though some noted issues such as loose or stripped screws, minor shipping damage, wiring that needed cleanup, sensor error codes (EE1, R32/A2L settings), missing filter racks, and plenum fitment adjustments.

The ID fan pressure sensor was not working on the first day, giving an EE1 error, but it cleared by itself on the next day.

Great unit! Showed up on time and in great condition. Packaging was excellent and very secure. All pieces were included. Got the plenum kit which came with a lot of metal screws too. Unit hooked up and is working great! I was without heat so having these guys to talk with and sort out details was key to my purchase. Contacting them during shipping to make sure everything was on time was easy and no hassle. Unit was well priced and I feel I got a great deal over all and isn't that what it's all about?
If I ever upgrade and add A/C I'll be buying from here only. Once you treat me right you keep my business until you don't. Only fair.

This furnace is replacing a Goodman I installed in 2002. Everything went smoothly but I wished it would be easier to read the wiring markers. I pretty much had to lay on the floor to see them because they're marked on the bottom not the top of the connections.

First time installing a Goodman, I have replaced quite a few of the older models. Everything hooked up fine only issue was shutting off the R32 sensor , didn't realize i needed to do that until it was to late. Took a few attempts to reset the codes but after a quick video on YouTube from their links it was fixed. Over all I'm very happy with it and so is the customer. It's nice when the install takes less that 6 hours start to finish.

Unit runs smoothly as you'd expect for a new furnace. It replaced a 70,000 BTU from the late 80's and hasn't had any problems so far with low 20 degree weather in a 1,300 SF northern mid-west home.
My only hits on the quality would be there were several screws loose on the unit randomly all over, so we looked at it closely in case of the feared "Friday or Monday build". Perhaps this happens in shipping, or some fasteners like the gas hookup are left loose for ease of connecting gas first.
The cabinet had some damage I'd assume came during shipping, so it required some field adjustments to get the upper door on straight and hooking up the plenum. Pricing compared with about every other competitor, but the unit was available in stock and the reliability and customer service of HVACDirect won out with us.

this is a furnace replacement. our heating installers use this brand all the time. though they were 4k for furnace and install, i figured I would give it a shot myself. it showed up packaged like a tank, so it was well protected, though the delivery company failed to call me prior to showing up, instead they left out in the driveway. unit isn't that heavy, shorter than old one. was pretty easy to install with gas, vents, and wires.
BE SURE to read the tag near the wire terminals about A2L. the furnace ran full fan only. you have to go into setting and tell it no, then it will work as it should. my nest thermostat allows for 2 stage heating which is absolutely amazing. house heats up way quicker, and it runs way less.
I myself being very handy at fixing things, if can do handy things, buy from here as prices are great, and fast shipping, and most things seem in stock a lot.

Customer Questions
What is the difference between Model GM9C800803BN and GM9S800803BN? What does the 4th digit in the model # reveal (C vs S)?
The 4th digit in the model number indicates what kind of staging the furnace has. An "S" means that the furnace is single stage while a "C" indicates that the furnace is a two stage model. Two stage furnaces have two different heat settings you can use: one "full output" heat setting for your typical winter day and one "partial output" for those days where you don't need as much heat. Single stage furnaces just have the full output setting. More info on furnace staging can be found in each furnace's specifications sheet, found in the Resources section. If you have any further questions, please call us and we will be happy to assist you.
