Can a wood burning buck insert be converted to gas burning?

No, a wood burning fireplace or stove cannot be converted into a gas fireplace or stove. Attempting to install a gas appliance into a wood insert is dangerous and not advised as a wood burning system is designed for small amounts of air for combustion and gas systems need excessive amounts of air. If I have a plug in my existing fireplace can I install a ventless gas insert?

The 34ZC does not require an electrical outlet in the fireplace. It can be plugged into an exterior electrical outlet. The plug is required for the blower.
