Hi, according to the manual on page 32 "If the blower is being used on the Model 74. Your stove is equipped with an automatic thermostat. The Buck Stove Model 74 is a non-catalytic wood burning stove that has been designed to meet emissions standards without the use of a catalytic combustor. The Buck Stove Model 74 has a BTU rating of 40,900 and can heat up to 2,600 square feet. At 78% efficient, you will be getting more heat with less wood. Buck Stove has been manufacturing quality stoves in the United States for over 40 years! Add a blower for increased efficiency and heat circulation.

Product is good. Delivery was excellent.

If electricity is out, can you use the wood stove?

Is there an ash tray for the removal of the waste?

Great question. This product has an ash dump. An ash dump is a compartment at the base of the fireplace that holds the ashes to allow them to cool. The model 81 and the model 74 use the same door. The model 81 has bay windows on the side for additional fire viewing.

Does this stove have secondary burning that is it efficient as a catalytic stove?

The Buck Stove 74 Insert uses secondary air combustion that requires no maintenance and achieves similar efficiencies to a stove that uses a catalyst.

Is a liner kit a necessary?

A chimney liner is always recommended to achieve the best efficiency form the appliance by providing a consistent flow of exhausted gases leaving the appliance.

Can the Buck Stove 74 Insert be used with the door opened?

For optimum efficiency and longer burn times, high efficiency wood inserts like the Buck 74 are intended be operated with the door closed.
