If you were shipped the natural gas stove, all you have to do is change a little brass plug to convert to propane. Takes 1 minute.

I have this stove. Great stove 5 gold stars.

We were having trouble with the unit and we found out that the wiring was set up incorrectly on the rear terminals. Factory issue, not HVAC Direct's fault. Luckily, we have a friend who helped us figure it out. We had to email the New Buck Corporation to get the problem figured out. We live in Texas and the manufacturer is in North Carolina. It was pretty difficult trying to work with New Buck through email to get the issue straightened out. By the way, it is NOT true, as the Q and A below states, that the unit won't operate during a power loss. We bought ours without a blower, no remote control, and no plans to hook it to a wall thermostat. It works just fine without electricity if you don't attach any electrical accessories to it.

I made a mistake and ordered the Natural Gas instead of the LP model. I reached out to Customer Service and they were very helpful and I will be returning this model and ordering the LP model this week.

I was very impressed by your customer service in the purchase of my product, and I had made several phone calls and appreciated talking to a human and getting prompt reply’s!

My gas heater has not been installed yet so I’m not sure how it operates… I guess if I had one suggestion, would be to offer an installing crew. The guy doing my renovations just hasn’t had time to do it. So fingers crossed , once done it will work great!

I would highly recommend your company for another purchase!

Are Vent-Free Gas Fireplaces Safe to Use Indoors?
Yes, Vent-Free Gas Fireplaces are safe for indoor use when installed and operated according to manufacturer guidelines and local building codes. These fireplaces are designed to burn gas efficiently, producing minimal emissions and using advanced oxygen depletion sensors (ODS) to monitor indoor air quality. While Ventless Gas Fireplaces are a convenient and efficient heating option, it’s important to ensure proper room ventilation and follow installation instructions carefully. HVACDirect.com carries a full range of safe, certified vent-free fireplaces to meet your heating needs with confidence.
What is a vent-free or ventless gas fireplace?
A vent-free (or ventless) gas fireplace is a heating appliance designed to burn gas efficiently enough to release heat directly into your room without needing a chimney or vent. These units use indoor air for combustion and are engineered to produce minimal exhaust. While they are easy to install and excellent for zone heating, proper ventilation and compliance with local building codes are crucial for safe use.
What ignition options are available for gas fireplaces?
Gas fireplaces commonly offer two types of ignition: millivolt (standing pilot) and electronic ignition (pilotless). Millivolt ignition maintains a small pilot flame continuously, ensuring reliable operation even during power outages, and works well with thermostats, wall switches, or remotes. Electronic ignition lights the burner only when heat is needed, which saves fuel and energy but may require electricity or battery backup. Your choice depends on preferences for convenience, efficiency, and backup operation.
Can I install a ventless gas fireplace in a bedroom or sleeping area?
No, ventless gas fireplaces are not approved for installation in bedrooms or designated sleeping areas due to safety concerns related to oxygen depletion and indoor air quality. Most building codes and manufacturer guidelines prohibit their use in these spaces. For safe bedroom heating, opt for vented units like direct vent fireplaces.
How many square feet this stove is good for?
The Townsend II is capable of being a supplemental heat source for up 1000 Square Feet. Please give us a call if we can help further. Thanks!
