What We Need From You

The questions to answer are the same standard questions you may be asked by a contractor. Please note that not every combination may be available. All furnaces are downflow. If there are any issues with the selections you have provided, we will reach out to you to ensure that the system you receive is suitable for your home. For more information on each question, please see below:

Furnace Electric Heat

When it comes to electric heat, it is measured in kilowatts instead of BTUs, which is used for gas. Our Goodman electric mobile home furnaces come in 5 different heating ranges.

  • 10kw - suitable for smaller mobile homes
  • 15kw (2-3 Ton) - suitable for medium sized mobile homes
  • 15kw (3-5 Ton) - suitable for medium to large sized mobile homes
  • 20kw - suitable for larger mobile homes

    Furnace AFUE/Efficiency

AFUE stands for "Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency", which basically means that its a measure of how well your furnace will produce heat. If a furnace is rated for 40,000 BTUs and has an efficiency of 80%, then that means 80% of the fuel used produces 32,000 BTUs of heat (40,000 X 80% AFUE) per hour and the remaining 20% is lost through your venting as combustion byproducts.

Make sure you know what type of furnace your house is equipped for. An 80% Furnace will use a metal flue for venting gases out of your house, while a 95% Furnace will use plastic or PVC vents instead.

    Furnace BTUs

BTUs (British Thermal Units) measure how much heat a furnace can produce. It is important that you choose the correct furnace size so your whole house can be efficiently and comfortably warmed. BTUs scale upward with house size, but please note that other factors may affect what size furnace you need.

    • 45,000-56,000 BTUs - Ideal for small houses
    • 60,000 BTUs - Ideal for small to medium size houses
    • 70,000-77,000 BTUs - Ideal for medium houses
    • 90,000 BTUs - Ideal for medium to large size houses

    Condenser Tonnage

An air conditioner's tonnage is a measure of how much cool air it can produce. Similarly to furnace BTUs, an air conditioner's tonnage scales upward with house sizes. Please notes that other factors may affect the ideal tonnage your house needs.

    • 2 Ton - Ideal for small houses
    • 2.5 Ton - Ideal for small to medium size houses
    • 3 and 3.5 Ton - Ideal for medium houses
    • 4 Ton - Ideal for medium to large size houses

    Coils

All coils fit within cabinets that are at a minimum 17.5" wide. When determining tonnage for coils, size up if your condenser is within a ".5" size. For example, if your condenser is a 2.5 ton unit, we recommend choosing a 3 ton coil.

NOTE:All units under 14.3 SEER2 units cannot be shipped or installed in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia For more information about state efficiency requirements, please click here.
