36,000 BTU, 17.8 SEER—Efficiently Reliable

With an output of 36,000 BTU and a 17.8 SEER efficiency, the Mitsubishi PVA-A36AA7 / PUZ-HA36NHA5 is generally able to heat and cool up to a medium-sized house, depending on variables such as your insulation. The unit comes standard encased internally with fiberglass-free insulation, decreasing airflow leakage down to less than 1% in standard conditions. This promotes temperature transfer to your home and decreases runtime of the unit since more of the conditioned air is sent into your home. Moreover, the unit can keep your room heated and comfortable at an outside temperature of as low as -13°F. This Hyper Heat pump functionality reliably keeps your home comfortable even through the coldest months of the year in most climates, and operates at a higher efficiency and at a lower temperature than most other central split systems.

Warranty

On all of its mini splits, Mitsubishi offers their standard 5 year parts and 7 year compressor warranty from the time the unit is purchased. If the unit is installed following state and local codes and the unit is registered through Mitsubishi, the unit’s warranty is extended to a 10 year parts and compressor warranty, giving you peace of mind that if a rare problem does occur on your unit, you are covered.

Enhanced Comfort

With a variable speed compressor and a multi-speed ECM motor on the air handler, the Mitsubishi PVA-A36AA7 / PUZ-HA36NHA5 is designed to keep full control over your home’s comfort by changing the unit’s output based on the thermostat requirements. From enhanced comfort in your home to light-commercial climate control, this unit can meet your goals in the space that you need it.

Intelligent Control Options

Mitsubishi manufactures special brand-specific thermostats and controllers for their split systems. One such option, the Kumo Cloud found here, allows you to connect your unit to WiFi and provides convenient control directly to your phone from anywhere that you have Internet access.

Versatile in Application Potential

From standard home comfort to light-commercial climate control, the Mitsubishi PVA-A36AA7 / PUZ-HA36NHA5 is designed for several different installation applications. The unit can be installed in the upflow, downflow, and horizontal positions to allow for wider application potential. For solutions that require constant heat relief in mild climates, the PVA-A36AA7 / PUZ-HA36NHA5 is also equipped with a 24-hour continuous cooling mode, allowing you to leave it unattended with the peace of mind that it will still function where you need it most.

I had this pair installed in my 1800 sq ft house 80's construction tri level at 5000 ft elevation and my backup heat strips have never been needed. I'm in the middle of January and the system is keeping up with the demand really well. The constant air circulation also makes the temperature in my house very even and led us to turn the thermostat down from where we usually keep it. We stay at 64 during the day and 62 at night. It drops to 20 degrees outside and we've never had a problem keeping the set temp. One thing, the device setup has an option to average return air with remote temp. Which means your thermostat won't be accurate for the room it's in. You can turn that off. It's called indoor air detection.

I don't know about cooling yet but the heat results are astounding. We're talking same price as natural gas. Also the outdoor unit is quiet. We have a deck right near it and have to focus to hear the unit.

This is an essential part of a net zero house. With a solar array and net metering, this is as close to free heat as you can get. Sticker price is high but not much higher if you compare an 18 seer ac and a high efficiency furnace. If you keep your house at 70 during the winter you may end up needing the strip heating, but I don't know. It's not like my system runs at full bore even at below 20. Best to install the 10 kw heat strips just for peace of mind and for emergencies.

Overall this is the best system available for ducted retrofit. Also really the only one available that can reasonably be your primary heat source at elevation or in true wintery areas. Can't beat the 10 year warranty either. Really satisfied, help the climate and ditch the combustion.
