40,000 BTU, 80% AFUE

The RunTru by Trane A801X040AM3SD has an input of 40,000 BTU. With an efficiency of 80%, this means that the furnace has an output of 32,000 BTU. The 80% AFUE also means that for the gas going into the furnace, 80% of it is used to heat your home while the remaining 20% is lost out the flue piping and lost to normal furnace operations. All 80% furnaces require metal flue venting, and if you need it to be plastic/PVC venting a furnace with an efficiency of 90% or above is required. While this unit uses natural gas as fuel out of the box, we also have an LP conversion kit, available at an additional cost. Please note that this furnace is not Low NOx or Ultra Low NOx compliant and if shipped to California may be subject to a mitigation fee.

Warranty

RunTru by Trane offers 10 year parts and 20 year heat exchanger limited warranties. Please note that in order for the heat exchanger and parts warranties to be upheld, the unit must be registered through the manufacturer within 90 days of installation. The installation must also follow your state and local codes.

Installation and Durability

With its ability to be installed in any configuration (upflow, downflow, or horizontal) the RunTru by Trane A801X040AM3SD is very versatile in application potential. Customer Questions
Who makes RunTru?
RunTru HVAC products are made by Trane Technologies, a well-known and reputable manufacturer in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry. RunTru is a brand developed by Trane to offer reliable and cost-effective HVAC solutions, maintaining Trane’s commitment to quality and performance.
I'm looking to replace my Trane unit and this RunTru unit seems to have about the same specs - are they the same product?
RunTru is made by the same company as Trane as well as brands like American Standard, Ameristar, and OxBox. Many of the internal components can be cross-referenced for shared parts. So, yes, apart from the name on the badge – very similar if not identical.
What happens if it arrives damaged?
If you are present during drop-off and you see obvious signs of damage or rough handling in transit - please ask the driver to wait while you inspect the equipment. If it is damaged badly enough that you believe it can not function, you have the right to refuse the damaged portion of the shipment. If you discover the damage after the driver has left, take photos of the damage and send them to customerservice@hvacdirect.com. Please refer to your order number in the email. This starts the process and one of our representatives will be in touch with you promptly.
How can I find an installer?
It’s easier than you think – the key is to find an independent contractor or small company as opposed to a larger HVAC service. A one or two person outfit will do the work more quickly and cheaply than a bigger company, too. Yelp.com, Thumbtack.com, and Porch.com are websites that are designed to help you connect with a professional in your area. You could also place a call to the last professional who did work on your home and see if they have any recommendations.
