Please note that this model of equipment does not have quick connect line set connectors and is not a DIY unit. Installation materials such as line sets, control wire, drain hose, whip and disconnect are not included, but are available at additional cost in the Accessories section on this page. You will need a professional to add more refrigerant and vacuum the lines as needed. The automated cleaning function will clean your system, but it is recommended to periodically clean the unit's filters manually.
Extreme Heat Base Pan Heater Technology
Each ACiQ condenser has integrated Extreme Heat technology to maximize heat performance in extreme cold weather. Extended heat pump performance (HyperHeat) harnesses the power of inverter condenser with outdoor temp sensing, variable refrigerant flow and variable condenser fan speed to maximize heat extraction all the way down to -22°F. Plus, every Extreme Heat ACiQ condenser includes a base pan heater to keep ice from collecting on the condenser coil during heat pump operation.

24,000 BTU ACiQ Single Zone Concealed Duct Air Handler - R454B
Concealed Duct air handlers give you all the advantages of a multi zone mini split, without any visible air handlers on your walls or ceilings. These flexible units are designed to be concealed above the ceiling, below the floor, above a closet ceiling, above a hallway ceiling or behind a soffit. You run flex ducting from the concealed duct air handler to ceiling or wall registers in your desired location. Depending on the capacity of the unit, up to 4 flex duct runs can be connected, perfect for a pair of small bedrooms or a master suite.
The design is extremely simple return air is brought in at the rear of the unit and supply (cooled or heated) air is pushed out the front by an almost-silent squirrel cage fan. You attach a pre-made manifold takeoff or field-fabricate plenums using ductboard. Using readily available supplies, the customization possibilities are endless.
Installation Considerations
Concealed duct system installations require a certain amount of pre-planning, and are similar in scope to a standard home HVAC installation. They are best used in new construction projects or additions. Installation will require flex ducting, register vents, plenums and installation supplies in addition to the equipment components. The Concealed Duct units have a factory-installed pump to lift the condensation. From there you will use PVC to construct a drain system to a safe wastewater location.

This unit is working very well in my garage/shop. At 8 deg F outdoor temperature it had no issues keeping the shop at 60 deg F. It may well warm it up higher, but that's what I had it set at. The first issue I have is that if you want to attach the line set to the right of the indoor unit, you have to bend the indoor unit pipes 180 degrees. Suction line (large) had no issues but the 3/8" line kinked, requiring me to hire a professional to braze the pipe at the right angle. It's fixed and working now, but that was a $300 adder. Second issue is that the lowest you can set the heating setpoint is 60 deg, which means I have to keep the shop warmer than necessary when I just want to keep the bricks warmer than 40 deg F. I'm sure others would like the ability to leave for a few days and keep pipes from freezing without heating all the way to 60 deg. It's possible there is an operational issue that requires the indoor temp to be that high, but I suspect it's just poor assumptions.
