The Goodman® GSX16 UP TO 16 SEER Central Air Conditioner uses the environmentally friendly refrigerant R-410A and features energy efficiencies and operating sound levels that are among the best in the heating and air conditioning industry. R-410A is chlorine-free to help prevent damage to the ozone layer. This 1.5 Ton AC unit features a high-efficiency Copeland® scroll compressor and is designed for the consumer who desires superior comfort, quiet operation, and environmentally friendly air conditioning performance.
In order to achieve the 16 SEER efficiency this central air conditioner must be installed with the manufacturer recommended evaporator coil, furnace, variable speed air handler, or variable speed modular blower and thermostatic expansion valve (TXV). A 16 SEER system will reduce your electric bill approximately 7% - 8% more than a 15 SEER system.
Please note that this air conditioning equipment comes pre-charged with R-410A liquid refrigerant and by Federal law cannot be released to the atmosphere. Yes, you can purchase this equipment without being EPA certified. And, if you are mechanically inclined you may perform about 90% of the equipment installation yourself. However, we strongly recommend to have a professional heating/cooling contractor do the final part of the installation including managing the refrigerant. An HVAC contractor has the tools and know-how to do this work.

Cabinet Features
The Goodman® Multi-Position, Variable-Speed Air Handler is suitable for use with refrigerant R-410A (models ending in 14) and is compatible with the ComfortNet™ Communicating System family of products.
The AVPTC 's blower design includes a variable-speed direct current motor, which helps eliminate the cold blast of air upon heating start-up often associated with single-speed units. This air handler is ideal for either new or retrofit installations.

The Goodman AVPTC25B14 air handler is a variable speed, energy efficient unit compatible with ComfortNet communicating technology. If you want the best of the best air handler for your home, the AVPTC25B14 is the best option for you.
The AVPTC25B14 air handler is rated for an output of 2 tons. In many cases, this tonnage will be larger than the condenser it is paired with, which increases the overall efficiency of the unit. Please note that this air handler needs a condenser to heat or cool. For straight heating or when backup heat is necessary in a heat pump application, the air handler is able to accommodate heat strips, available at an additional cost to be field-installed.
Goodman offers a 10 year parts warranty with online registration and when the unit is matched with a covered condenser. Please note that installation that follows your state and local codes is required, normally requiring an EPA-certified installer for most of the work.
The Goodman AVPTC25B14 comes with a factory-installed TXV kit, preventing the need to install one to increase the unit’s efficiency. The unit is also able to be installed in any orientation—upflow, downflow, or horizontal—which allows it to be extremely versatile in application. For easy maintenance, there are two access panels on the unit, and there is a CFM indicator and a front-panel sight glass. There is also a built-in control board function that helps you diagnose the unit should the need arise.
The Goodman AVPTC25B14 is ComfortNet compatible, allowing it to communicate with compatible condensers. The variable speed motor provides the most precise temperature control possible. Both of these features keep you as comfortable as possible, no matter what temperature you like to keep the thermostat set on.
