This Goodman Furnace & Heat Pump dual fuel system gives homeowners the familiar comfort of a furnace and central air setup with the added benefit of heat pump heating. The heat pump provides central cooling and electric heating during milder weather, while the gas furnace delivers stronger heating performance when outdoor temperatures drop. By relying on electric heat pump operation during milder heating conditions, this system can help lower gas usage and reduce heating costs compared to a standard furnace and AC setup.
A Furnace & Heat Pump System, also known as a dual fuel system, works similarly to a traditional furnace and central air conditioner setup. The key difference is that the outdoor unit is a heat pump instead of an AC-only condenser. That means it can cool your home in summer and provide electric heating during milder heating weather.
When temperatures drop and stronger heat is needed, the gas furnace can take over. This gives homeowners a practical balance of electric heat pump operation when conditions are mild and dependable gas furnace heating when colder weather requires more heating power.
During milder heating conditions, the heat pump can provide electric heat without running the gas furnace as often. This helps homeowners save money by using electric heat pump operation during moderate weather, instead of relying on gas heat every time the home needs warmth.
When outdoor temperatures drop, the gas furnace remains available for stronger heating performance, giving homeowners a smart balance of everyday efficiency, long-term savings potential, and dependable comfort.
The included heat pump can provide electric heating in colder weather, but performance depends on the specific heat pump model and outdoor temperature. For this system, review the heat pump’s cold-weather performance rating to understand how much heating support it can provide at lower temperatures.
For GLZS4BA heat pump systems, the heat pump operates at 40% efficiency at 0°F, giving homeowners electric heating support in colder conditions while the gas furnace remains available when stronger heat is needed.
An 80% AFUE furnace provides dependable gas heating with practical efficiency for everyday comfort. For example, a 60,000 BTU input rating at 80% AFUE provides approximately 48,000 BTUs of usable heating output, while the remaining heat is lost to the combustion process and exits through the venting. Because this is an 80% AFUE furnace, it requires metal flue venting. Homes with plastic or PVC furnace venting require a 90% AFUE or higher furnace.
A Goodman dual fuel system combines the efficiency of an electric heat pump with the dependable heating power of a gas furnace to provide flexible, year-round home comfort.
During milder weather, the heat pump handles heating efficiently while also providing cooling during warmer months. As outdoor temperatures drop, the system can switch to the gas furnace for stronger heating performance when it is needed most.
By using two different heating sources within one system, a dual fuel setup helps balance comfort, efficiency, and cold-weather performance throughout the year.

The Santa Fe Ultra70 was the first compact whole house ventilating dehumidifier built for tight, low-clearance installs. It removes up to 70 pints of moisture per day and covers homes up to 1,800 square feet, which makes it a strong match for smaller houses, condos, and apartments.
Ducted into your HVAC system, the Ultra70 controls humidity everywhere at once instead of one room at a time. That means no musty basement smell, no clammy upstairs bedrooms, and no conditions that let mold and wood rot get started.
The cabinet measures 12" W x 12" H x 28" L and converts between horizontal and vertical airflow discharge, so it works in mechanical rooms, closets, attics, basements, and crawl spaces alike. Now running R454B refrigerant, it exceeds Department of Energy efficiency standards and is built at Santa Fe's headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Ultra70 gives you three ways to install it. Tie it into your existing HVAC system with a dedicated 8" return and a supply connection with backdraft damper. Run it on its own separate ductwork. Or set it freestanding in a basement or crawl space when ducting isn't practical.
Both the return air inlet and supply air outlet use 8" duct collars. The back panel comes configured for horizontal flow through and rotates for vertical flow through with a T20 torx bit, which is what lets the same unit work in an attic, a closet, or under a floor.
Fresh air ventilation is optional and simple to add. A "T" into the inlet duct brings outdoor air into the system to dilute pollutants and maintain normal oxygen levels indoors, and the volume is adjustable with a range of dampers and controls.
Santa Fe warrants the Ultra70 Dehumidifier to be free from defects in materials and workmanship. The unit includes a 5-year limited warranty, with extended coverage on select components. Warranty coverage may vary based on installation, application, and registration requirements. Refer to the manufacturer’s documentation for complete warranty details.
Dehumidifiers live in the roughest parts of a house. The Ultra70 is built from heavy-duty steel with components chosen to hold up to damp air, dust, and temperature swings over years of runtime.
Inside, a high-efficiency refrigeration coil, compressor, and fan work together to pull more moisture using about 15% less energy than comparably sized units. The R454B refrigerant charge lowers the environmental impact compared to earlier models while keeping performance where it needs to be.
The MERV-13 filter comes standard and pulls fine particles out of the airstream as the unit works. Vacuum it regularly and swap it every six months. The unit operates between 49°F and 95°F, plugs into a standard 115V grounded outlet at 5.4 amps, and ships with a 9 ft. cord.
